Comic Summary: Cable, along with Cyclops, Jean Grey, and Wolverine of the X-Men, are flying a plane towards Mt. Everest, where the Phalanx has set up their Citadel containing their all-important Womb. The four mutants fly the plane into the fortress as a distraction for their real plan, to get into the Citadel undetected. Inside, Lang has turned traitor and looks to Psylocke for help against the Phalanx. Finally gaining entrance to the Citadel after an arduous climb up the mountain, the three of the four mutants battle their way through an horde of attacking Phalanx. Wolverine heads off to the Womb to free his captured X-Men allies. In the heat of the battle, Hodge senses the X-Men’s escape. His efforts were in vain, though, as the X-Men, now freed, join in the battle against the Phalanx. Psylocke is able to free herself from her assimilation just in time to act as a psi-rod channeling the combined psi-powers of herself, Cable and Jean against the psi-net that had once connected all Phalanx entities across the globe. Sensing that the battle is nearly lost, Hodge absorbs the nests energies from around the world, effectively killing all his Phalanx allies with-in them. He tries to power up the Citadel and the Phalanx with-in with the power that he gained. It was too late for them, though, as Lang seizes his moment and finally lets go of his psi-hold on the Citadel itself, sending it and its occupants into the depths of Mt. Everest. Using all their resources, the X-Men are able to save themselves from the deathly plummet. Though not to be outdone, Hodge stretches forth with the last of his energy. Taking hold of Lang, he drags him into oblivion with him. In another galaxy far away from this one, a techno-organic being senses the loss of the Phalanx. He decides that now is the time for him to take more of an active role in the mission against Earth.

Comic Summary: Cable is doubting if joining the X-Men was a right decision. Thinking back to an incident years ago, when he saved a very young Rogue from a few mutant-hating boys who tried to kill her, but then left her behind. He thinks that maybe her life would have been different if he had taken her along. Cable thinks that this was just one of many bad decisions in his life. His thoughts are interrupted by Avalanche, Blob and the Post crashing in on Senator Kelly’s speech. Cable tries his best to protect the senator and telepathically alerts Beast and Gambit, who are on the roof as back-up. At first, the Brotherhood gains the upper hand and Post makes it close to Kelly, but one of his bodyguards turns out to be Colossus, disguised with an image inducer. The tide turns and now the X-Men gain the upper hand, when suddenly Cable recognizes a terminally ill man observing the battle. It’s Pyro, who is dying from the Legacy Virus. He points Cable to there being a fourth Brotherhood member in the female Mastermind and, indeed, she has been altering their perceptions. Cable takes the illusionist out but Post is already close enough to shoot Kelly once and for all. His powers flaring up a final time, Pyro engulfs Post in flame, ending the battle. Before he dies, Pyro urges Senator Kelly to change his anti-mutant views. Impressed by the former villain’s heroic act, Kelly promises that he will try to improve human/mutant relations. While the X-Men silently mourn the loss of life, Cable realizes that Pyro believed more in the X-Men’s dream than he himself, and he really hopes they made a change today. Though, being a soldier at heart, he always expects the worst.

His partner, Deadpool, catches up with him mid-battle carrying a bag of baby supplies. After dealing with both the Purifiers and the Marauders Cable and Deadpool find themselves in the snowy Alaskan wilderness. Their journey quickly sours when Predator X arrives, hungry for the infant. Deadpool distracts the beast and gets swallowed for his troubles. After being regurgitated he activates a bomb he attached to its inside. As if that wasn’t bad enough they’re soon attacked by a rogue *O*N*E* Sentinel. Once again Deadpool uses his smarts to trick the giant robot into following him, which later stumbles over a building and crashes to the ground, breaking apart. Comic Summary: In North Carolina, a city is under attack by the Brood aliens. Storm’s X-Men team and Captain Marvel are on hand to hold back the aliens after learning of the attack from one of Ulysses' visions. During the battle, Captain Marvel confronts Storm about telling Magneto about the Inhuman Ulysses. Storm explains her reasons, and Captain Marvel asks her to keep an eye on Magneto. In the Savage Land, Psylocke confirms that Nightcrawler has arrived on his own, not at Storm's request. Nightcrawler tells Magneto and his team that he thinks Ulysses is dangerous and Magneto decides that Ulysses could condemn mutants with his visions. Psylocke tells Magneto that they still don't know enough about Ulysses to go making any rash decisions, and that if he wants war with the Inhumans, he will certainly get it if he proceeds carelessly. In New Attilan, Fantomex sneaks through the city during the night, where he comes across Gambit, who was also sneaking about. The men fight, which is overheard by some guards, but Fantomex uses his misdirection power on the guards to make it appear as if there is nothing going on. Gambit defeats Fantomex and takes him with him as he decides that it is time to leave. Gambit thinks that Storm was right to send him here, as Magneto is making his move. Back in the Savage Land, Psylocke goes into one of the jets, where she is confronted by Sabretooth, who asks her if she is going somewhere. Psylocke tells Creed that she knows Mangeto sent Fantomex, but isn't sure if it was as spy or assassin, and that she can't stand by Magneto's side when he is taking actions she doesn't agree with. Sabrerooth doesn't try to stop her, as he figures he is best on Magneto's side. Magneto watches the Blackbird leave with Psylocke, and Monet informs him that Psylocke has been in contact with Storm since the events of Dubai. Magneto knows that they are down one psychic to help protect their minds, but points out that the world is full of psychics.

Comic Summary: Magneto arrives in London, where Rachel Grey has been laying low. They observe a woman and her child laying flowers at a memorial for the woman's husband, a mutant who lost his life to the Terrigen Mists. They notice that the people around them seem more concerned with the emergence of new Inhumans, rather than the loss of mutant life. Magneto tells Rachel that mutants will not benefit from the predictions of Ulysses, and reminds her that the Inhumans are only concerned with the propagation of their species, rather than saving mutants. He asks Rachel to help him so that they can protect the future for mutantkind. In New York, Storm and Medusa meet on neutral territory. Medusa is angry that there were mutants sneaking around New Attilan without her knowledge or permission. Storm tells her that she has every right to be angry, but explains that she sent Gambit to protect her, as she wasn't sure whether Magneto would try anything. Storm points out that with all the pressure Medusa is under, if she had told her in advance, it might have sparked an incident. Medusa reminds Storm that Magneto hates the Inhumans, and she isn't sure she can look the other way about this. Medusa declares that Magneto should have met mutant justice long ago, but will now meet Inhuman justice. Medusa wonders if Storm sympathizes with Magneto. The two women raise their voices at each other as they argue, before calming down, and Medusa agrees to wait until Storm finds out what Magneto wants before she takes any action, but decides to repay Magneto in kind, and sends her own spy to the Savage Land. In War Room X, Woz arrives, and overhears Magneto meeting with M, Sabretooth, Nightcrawler and Rachel Grey. Magneto believes that the bridge between mutant and Inhuman that Storm is creating will crumble, and that they must secure Ulysses from the Inhumans. Rachel asks Magneto if by “securing” Ulysses, means that they will kill him. Monet tells Rachel that it doesn't matter, but Nightcrawler and Rachel are not interesting in killing Ulysses. Sabretooth detects Woz's presence, and they chase him. Woz attempts to teleport away through a mirror, but the X-Men catch him, and Magneto decides that an offensive approach is required. Fantomex is being kept as Gambit's hostage in New York, but Gambit is unaware that EVA is nearby. Storm, Psylocke, Magik and Old Man Logan arrive at the run down apartment. Psylocke and Fantomex argue, as Fantomex reveals that Magneto asked him to scope out New Attilan with strict orders not to engage. Old Man Logan detects trouble outside, and Archangel appears. Nightcrawler teleports in and grabs Fantomex, teleporting back outside where Monet and Sabretooth are waiting. A battle ensues, with Old Man Logan and Sabretooth fighting, Nightcrawler and Psylocke against each other, Storm facing off against Archangel, and Magik against Monet. Gambit starts to fight Fantomex, when suddenly, Rogue appears. Gambit tries to talk to her – but she is actually Mystique, who takes him out. Old Man Logan soon realizes that the other X-Men don't care about rescuing Fantomex – it's just a distraction. Indeed, as Magneto and Rachel Grey arrive at New Attilan.

Comic Summary: In New Attilan, Rachel Grey reminds Magneto that no one is to die while they are here. Magneto takes out some guards and asks Rachel if she has found Ulysses Cain. Rachel reveals his location and informs Magneto that the Inhumans don't hate mutants, but that they are afraid of him. Magneto makes his way to Ulysses' location, where Ulysses announces that he has been expecting Magneto's arrival. In Manhattan, Storm and Magneto's teams of X-Men along with their respective allies do battle with each other, debating Magneto's plan and reasoning. Storm is determined that Magneto is on the wrong path. Nightcrawler helps Storm when she is taken out by Archangel's neurotoxins, and Storm declares that if Magneto kills Ulysses then mutantkind deserves its fate. During the battle, Magik retreats to get reinforcements. Back in New Attilan, Ulysses admits he is scared of Magneto, and talks about his gift. Ulysses explains that he only wanted to help, but his predictions just put people at each other's throats. Ulysses then informs Magneto that this isn't going to turn out the way he thinks – it will be much worse. Back in Manhattan, Storm asks Nightcrawler whose side he will take when Magneto has taken their choice from them. Nightcrawler tells Storm that he will be on the same “side” he has always been on. He prevents Mystique from harming Psylocke, before Magik arrives with reinforcements. The battle is over though, as Magik then teleports all of Storm's team away, suggesting that they focus their efforts on the real threat. Monet informs the rest of Magneto's team that the others are heading to New Attilan, but that they will be too late, as Magneto has likely finished his job. But Magneto is still talking to Ulysses, until he hears a crack of thunder. Ulysses asks Magneto what is going to happen to him, to which Magneto points out that if Ulysses can see the future then he should already know. Ulysses explains that he can only see short term, and shows Magneto visions of X-Man battling X-Man, many of them laying dead. Rachel Grey finds Storm and her team and tells them to stand down, as Magneto has gone, and that his presence has been wiped from the minds of the Inhumans. Psylocke is puzzled as to why Magneto would just leave after all he has been through, and Rachel suspects that Ulysses showed Magneto something. Magneto's X-Men arrive and Rachel goes to tell them that the situation is over. Nearby, Magneto meets with Medusa, who points out that she is within her right to kill Magneto. Magneto tells Medusa that he knows she is unwilling to sacrifice her people today, just as he is. Medusa warns Magneto that if he returns, then it will be as an enemy, and Magneto agrees. Nightcrawler returns to Storm, asking if there is still a place for him on her team, while in the Savage Land, Psylocke returns to Magneto's team and reminds him that they are supposed to be partners, that she isn't his chaperone. Rachel announces that she is leaving, and Magneto asks her to stay close, as the version of the future she knows is still on the horizon.
