Marysal breaks it up with a fire attack and then takes the opportunity for her and Morph to fly away. They don’t get far before Venger chases them down in a plane. He fires some rockets in their direction. Eventually Marysal is able to maneuver above Venger and then drop right on top of his plane. All three of them crash into the ground. Marysal is wiped out, but Morph and Venger continue to battle. Sage and Domenic enter the fray, but they’re no match for the mercenary. After besting his three opponents Venger uses the prince’s sword to skewer Marysal. The king gets in the way and is stabbed through the chest. Sage takes the opportunity to shoot Venger in the shoulder. Venger, ever resourceful, teleports away. Days later, Venger still hasn’t been and found and Marysal is healed. The Exiles arrive after the fact and defend Valeria Richards and Rosetta, two survivors of the horrendous destruction. It turns out this Valeria is the same one Morph and Psylocke met several missions ago. They all leave together to find sanctuary. Once relocated, Mystiq tries saving Rosetta’s life, but she dies as a result of her wounds. The Exiles decide to help this world even though it wasn’t their intended mission so they take the fight to the bad guys, beating them rather easily. This is when the Maker decides to appear and instantaneously transports the Exiles to his base located on a second moon orbiting Earth. He successfully transforms all of the team into evil versions of themselves, except for the impervious Psylocke. This effect rids Morph of his conditioning and Proteus’ personality reemerges. Cocky guy he is, Proteus goes after the Maker by himself only to get his backside handed to him. Morph, whose consciousness managed to survive this whole time, offers to add his strength to Proteus’. Together they defeat the Maker and everyone returns to normal. In the end Morph and Proteus decide to call a truce and share Morph’s body. Some time later, after the world is on its way back to normal, the Exiles depart for their prior mission, promising Valeria they’ll look her up again one day. Comic Summary: After Storm restores both Cyclops and Jean‘s powers the three together fight Cameron Hodge, but he is slowly winning; suddenly the citadel is shaken by a bomb explosion in the basement lab complex. While Hodge rushes away to safe all of his information stored there, Storm restores all the X-teams‘ powers as Cyclops reveals that the explosion was caused by a robot autobomb of Forge’s design. To ensure the secrecy of this back-up plan, Forge had willed himself into unconsciousness to avoid mindscans. The mutants split up into three squads, two try to battle Hodge, the third will search for Wolfsbane. Downstairs Cameron Hodge checks the computer systems and find the mainframe still active, he leaves again to hunt the mutants by utilizing much of the computers sensory input like body heat signatures, and building blueprints. Rictor, Tabitha and Jubilee followed the Genegineer through a secret tunnel into the basement lab complex where they discover Wipeout’s dead body guarded by mutate 490 (Rahne). At first Ric and Boom-Boom believe the only way to restore their powers is gone, but then Storm, Cable and the other New Mutants arrive in the labs. With lightnings Ororo is able to reverse the power-negation, but Wolfsbane can only partially be restored. In wolfen form she has free will, but in human appearance she will be the mindless mutate again. The mixed groups of X-Men, New Mutants and X-Factor members hunt their opponent through the citadel and run into various fights with the mechanical monster during which many receive major injuries, though Hodge too is weakened. During one of these battles Hodge snaps the Genegineer‘s neck. (Brief description courtesy of uncannyxmen.net)

Comic Summary: Jubilee ponders what the mutants at Fortress X are fighting for, while Legacy asks Magneto if she can interview Katherine Pryde, recently found attempting to escape. But Legacy does not tell Magneto about the camera that she recovered from Pryde. Legacy takes the camera to techno-genius Madison Jeffries, who is having trouble measuring the stars outside the force walls. Madison informs Legacy that the 247 photos on the camera are all blank. Legacy then absorbs Madison’s power. In the dead of night, Basilisk and Frenzy discuss Basilisk’s discovery - the dogtags he took from a soldier are exactly the same as the ones he took from another soldier in another battle - two entirely different people. Legacy, embued with Madison’s power, makes her way easily into the brig. She heads straight for Katherine Pryde’s cell, but encounters another prisoner, Blindfold. The young mutant prisoner confuses Legacy by calling her “Rogue”, and urges her to ask the Professor. Danger becomes aware that Legacy is in the brig and sends drones after her. Legacy finds Katherine Pryde and asks her why the pictures she took are blank, but Pryde is less than forthcoming. Legacy absorbs Pryde’s power, which comes in handy s the Danger drones attempt to apprehend her. Legacy finds the Professor that Blindfold was speaking of, and touches him - which sends shockwaves throughout the fortress as Legacy sees and hears strange images. Legacy manages to gather herself long enough to evade more Danger drones, and is assisted to safety by one of Madison Jeffries’s robots. Magneto sounds the alarm, as Moonstar and her Cadre are called in to apprehend Legacy, using all force necessary! (Brief description courtesy of uncannyxmen.net)

Moonstar receives a harsh message from “X”, while Magneto enters the brig, and frees Katherine Pryde from her prison. They go to Professor Xavier, and liberate him from his prison as well. Comic Summary: As the mutants of Fortress X race to battle the incoming army, Legion is confused about what “Moira” has been doing - but “Moira” tells him that no matter what, they can build a new world, for just the two of them. Charles Xavier and Magneto find Legion and tell him that they have to face “Moira”, that he is the only person who can. The battle rages, with every mutant fighting valiantly - even Wolverine joins in the battle, despite the danger it may do to him now that he has no mutant power. “Moira” finds the box containing the rest of the universe, and throws it into a fire - but Katherine Pryde rescues it, and Magneto and Xavier attack “Moira”. Legion confronts “Moira”, really a persona from inside him, and eventually absorbs her back into him. Cannonball is seriously injured in the battle, but when “Moira” is reabsorbed into Legion, the soldiers, tanks and planes all vanish. Legion then opens the box containing the universe, and it sweeps over everyone. They all soon find themselves on Utopia, back to their true selves - although their memories about everything are hazy. Those imprisoned by the “Moira” persona - like the White Queen, and the Stepford Cuckoos, will be able to help restore memories. Strangely, several who were not on Utopia when the weirdness happened - like Chamber and the mysterious Revenant - are now on Utopia. Frenzy has trouble dealing with the fact that she and Cyclops are not a couple in the real world, while others are reunited. Professor X talks to Blindfold about the event that transpired, before Professor X realizes that Legion is missing. And inside his mind, Legion hears the voice of “Moira”, telling him that she will make it all better. (Brief description courtesy of uncannyxmen.net)

Comic Summary: This is the sequel to the popular "Official Marvel Comics Try-out Book" of the mid- '80's. That book was the first place that writers, pencilers, inkers, letterers, and colorists could all find raw material to practice on so they would have something they could submit in the hope of getting a job at Marvel Comics. The original book was actually published as a contest and it started the career of Mark Bagley (he says so in the introduction to this book). The book would describe the job that a penciller, inker, letterer, etc. would have to do, what tools they could use, and then give pages ready for that person to work on (pages without color, pages without letters, pages without ink, etc.) The reader was then invited to go to town on the pages and submit the results.

Comic Summary: The newly minted Hellions and New Mutants get into an argument outside, which quickly escalates into a fight. At the same time, Dani ridicules Emma for the codenames and squad name choices she made, which would just feed Julian’s ego. Rahne gets aggressive when she believes Emma is pressuring Dani into leaving, and Scott intervenes, telling Dani and Rahne to learn to trust Emma. He then notices the kids fighting outside, and puts an end to that as well. He tells them that they just volunteered to be the first teams to participate in the new Field Day exercises. After the kids and Scott disband, Dani admits that she needs Emma’s help to find the final member of her squad: Kevin Ford. In the garage, Josh and Rahne kiss, and soon they talk about Josh being a New Mutant, just like Rahne was all those years ago. Due to a reminder that she is a teacher, and should act like one, Rahne decides that they should break up, much to Josh’s dismay. Emma and Dani use Cerebra to track Kevin down, and eventually find him working in a junkyard in Staten Island. Dani tries to get him to come back to the school, but Kevin really doesn’t want to hear it from her. Emma decides to give it a try, and manages to convince him to come back to Xavier’s, though Dani has some concerns that Kevin may have been using his powers on animals. When they arrive back at the school, Kevin agrees to join Dani’s squad, mainly because of Laurie. Laurie and Sofia are happy to have Kevin back, though there is some animosity between Kevin and Josh. Dani asks Kevin for a suggestion for what his codename should be, and he decides on Wither. The leadership of the squad is the next issue to be discussed, and though Dani chose David, he declines, and Sofia takes the job. The first Field Day exercise arrives, and they are told that they must find an object somewhere in the grounds. Sofia sends Nori to search the grounds with her super-speed, while Cessily spies on the teachers and learns that it is located in the hedge maze. She is found out by the teachers, though, and eliminated from the exercise. She has Jay back her up, though, and he returns to the rest of the Hellions with the information. Right about then, Nori also arrives with the information, and they head off to the hedge maze. Unfortunately, they find Santo blocking the way, and he tells them that the rest of the Hellions have already gotten into the maze, and the New Mutants lose. Comic Summary: David’s younger sister, Kim, arrives at Xavier’s to visit her brother. David first introduces Kim to the rest of his New Mutants squad, and next gives her a tour around the school and its many classes. Kim is very impressed and a little jealous as well, because she thinks that her school is boring compared to Xavier’s. Meanwhile, weird things are happening around the Institute. It begins with Icarus. While preparing for gym, his picture of his lost love Julia starts to crack, and he didn’t even touch it! He freaks out and sulks about it. Surge notices that and talks to him, but they only end up in an argument that Jay once tried to kill himself because he thought he had lost everything. Noriko, upset hearing that, knows that isn’t true, because Jay still has a family that loves him, and runs away to her room. There, she tries to contact her parents again and phones them, but her father doesn’t believe that it’s really Noriko calling them and hangs up on her. Noriko gets even more upset and stays in the room. After a while, Jay enters to apologize, and they both find Noriko’s room trashed! But Nori didn’t trash it, and neither did her roommate. At the lab, Wither and Wall Flower find a beaker smashed, and later a threatening message gets written on the blackboard, to “leave now.” Some time later, the New Mutants begin their Danger Room session and Kim gets to watch. Some of the squad members panic, but David suspects that it’s all just a prank of Julians. After a successful training session, Noriko doesn’t feel well after an overload of her powers. Dani goes to check on her and Kim has to stay behind in the observation deck. A ghost appears next to her and, after feeling that Kim is different, it warns Kim to get out of the place while she can and then disappears. Overjoyed, Kim rushes to Dani and the New Mutants, telling them that she has just found out that she is a mutant! (Brief description courtesy of uncannyxmen.net)

Comic Summary: After Sinister tells Mystique there is no hope for curing Rogue, Mystique grabs him and forces his face to touch Rogue’s. Rogue’s accelerated “death touch” kills him instantly. Gambit arrives with the mutant infant and is shocked to see that Sinister is dead. The X-Men arrive and fight the assembled Acolytes and Marauders for the child. The battle is quite vicious with casualties on both sides. Reinforcements arrive, as the X-Men come to stop the traitorous Bishop. Guided by Destiny’s predictions, Mystique uses the baby to save Rogue, touching their bare skin to each other. The child survives contact with Rogue, but she doesn’t recover as predicted. Gambit is appalled at the lengths Raven will go to in order to win back Rogue’s love. He confesses to working with the Marauders to aid her in her plans. Predator X attacks the Institute and is held at bay by Surge and the New X-Men. Pixie teleports the team to X-23 in the hopes that she can kill it, unaware that she’s transported them all into the middle of an intense battle. Xavier takes the newborn from Gambit and gives her to Cable to take into the future for safety. Predator X feeds on Vertigo and then heads straight to the baby. Bishop confronts Cable just as Predator X arrives to devour the mutant antichrist he was engineered to destroy. (Brief description courtesy of uncannyxmen.net)
