Year 1995 ISBN # 0785101268 Writer Fabian Nicieza Penciler Andy Kubert Comic Summary Groups of flatscans are heading towards Booth Bay Harbor in Maine to try to find out if the rumors of Eurasia trying to rescue them from being under Apocalypse’s rule are true. A cloaked figure infiltrates the group and befriending a young boy named Jeremy Graves, she does find that the humans really hope they are going to be rescued. After leaving the humans, Vanessa Carlysle lifts her hood and her pale blue skin easily marks her as a mutant. She immediately reports the information to her leader. Meanwhile in Westchester, Bishop watches Quicksilver’s team of X-Men training against one of Dazzler’s light-construct Sentinels, as they want to the humans in Maine with their plans to evacuate to Eurasia. After the exercise they realize that they must become faster if they hope to plant the device that will help the Sentinels to think the X-Men are allies, since their basic program makes them think any mutant as an enemy. After the exercise Magneto drops and finishes the Sentinel that the team had left still alive. He chides them for their sloppiness and prepares them for their help in the evacuation in Maine. After Magneto’s briefing Exodus transports the team to Maine. While the team mingles with the different groups of humans, Storm travels to a watchtower off the coast of Newfoundland and creates a lightning storm to help the Sentinels get past the defense shields there. She succeeds and the Sentinels break through. Though when they arrive on the mainland the X-Men have to act fast and plant the over ride virus in one of the Sentinels Terminal Cores. Breathing a sigh of relief for their victory, they do not notice Brother Jeffries of the Brotherhood changing the programming of the Sentinels. Afterwards the Sentinels attack the X-Men blowing Iceman’s body up and giving the Brotherhood time to ambush the X-Men. Unnoticed by anyone, little Jeremy Graves gets abducted by some black tentacles.

Astonishing X-Men: Ultimate Edition

He eventually tells them his feelings about Bishop and his story of this reality somehow being wrong. He’s afraid what Bishop says might be true and needs to find out if it is. He meets some resistance from his people, but he assures them it is necessary. Blink comes through her teleportation disc during the meeting. Next through is Sunfire and he’s hurting. A Prelate comes through as well, but Blink severs the disc and he is killed. Blink and Sunfire tell everyone that Holocaust has started another culling in Chicago and everyone is shocked. Later on, while still recovering, Sunfire asks Rogue to help them stop Holocaust. Gambit enters the room and he and Rogue leave to have a heart-to-heart. They’re almost about to kiss at one point when Blink steps outside with baby Charles. Gambit leaves and the X-Men resume their mission. In the hangar bay, Quicksilver stops by to try and convince Rogue not to go, only to learn that Sabretooth, Wild Child, and Morph have decided to accompanying Blink, Sunfire and her to Chicago. Rogue convinces Pietro she needs to go and after wishing each other good luck, they blast off for Chicago. Bishop enters the hangar, puzzled as to why the X-Men would go on a suicide mission. Quicksilver tells him that even if this world isn’t the right world, it’s still their world and they will fight for it. Elsewhere in the mansion, Magneto mulls over Bishop’s ramblings. Nightcrawler is in the room with him and they have a deep conversation about everything… basically, Magneto is willing to sacrifice this Earth based on a promise to his friend Xavier to make the world a better place. In his stronghold, Apocalypse learns from his servant Rex that the location of the X-Men’s base of operations will soon be known, as they can track Blink’s signature.

ClanDestine vs. the X-Men

Year 1997 ISBN # 0785105573 Writer Alan Davis Penciler Alan Davis Comic Summary Having entered through the strange portal they found, the Clan Destine ended up in the X-Men’s Danger Room and soon a full-fledged battle rages until Rory and Pandora stop it. The X-Men and the Clan compare notes, realizing that both of them are missing team members due to that portal and decide to work together. Hex, however, acts strangely, causing Wolverine to flip and gut him, which in turn causes Walter to go ballistic and injure Wolverine. Walter is restrained and Hex and Wolverine are brought to Dr. MacTaggert into the infirmary, where Newton assists. The Clan members find in turn that the X-Men are doing their best to separate them. Elsewhere, Xavier Colossus, Cuckoo, Adam and Gracie find themselves on what seems to be Synraith’s homeworld. Gracie reveals how as a youngster she tried to stop Cortez’s slaughter of the Aztecs and inadvertently bound herself to the demon Synraith. Since then, stopping Synraith has been her burden, shared only by Cuckoo. Apparently, they are to witness the demon’s return to Earth. The three telepaths decide to fight Synraith, drawing him to this side of the portal and keep him here. In the Danger Room, the Clan members have realize that the increasingly erratic behaviour of the X-Men is meant to keep them apart and they begin to fight again. Colossus tries to attack Synraith to help the telepaths and fails, seemingly being horribly injured, but he manages to throw the indestructible Adam at the demon and the portal. Adam finds himself thrown through the Danger Room and lands in front of Wolverine, Storm, Forge and the original five. Wolverine recognizes Adam as an old friend whereas Cyclops considers him a threat. Wolverine attacks him and it is revealed that all the X-Men save for Wolverine, Forge and Storm are danger room drones controlled by Synraith. Synraith sends more drones at them, but Storm manages to disrupt the systems by throwing a focused lightning bolt. The illusion passes an all the X-Men and Clan members including the ones seemingly on Synraith’s world are actually in the Danger Room. In fact, the telepaths had been drawing Synraith towards Earth rather than stopping him. Armed with that knowledge, they capture the demon in the portal till it collapses and he is destroyed. Later, good-byes are said and Adam doubts that he and his family will be seen again. Wolverine hopes he’s wrong.

Classic Gambit Volume 1

She desperately struggles against the attacks of his Hounds and, after hurting the King with her haphazard weather power, she falls into a pool, from which she is rescued by a charismatic young thief who calls himself Gambit and has mutant powers himself. Gambit almost manages to mesmerize the King’s aide Lian with his charm, but is attacked by the King himself. Together, though, the two thieves manage to trick their attackers and flee via the roof and Storm’s parachute. Later, at the junkyard where Storm is staying, she admits that the Shadow King won’t give up and Gambit is now likely part of his vendetta. Nanny and the Orphan-Maker have finally almost located Storm again. Nanny is determined to “rescue” her, before the Shadow King gets Ororo. In Washington D.C., Val Cooper is sent by the Shadow King to assassinate Mystique, who, courtesy of a letter by Destiny, is already expecting her. However, Mystique doesn’t act to stop Val. They are welcomed by a Time Broker who explains to them that each their home dimensions have been altered for the worse by a ripple in time, but that they are given the chance to change them back. Therefore they have to jump around various alternate scenarios, guided by a device called Tallus. Even though the realities they will find themselves in have apparently no connection to their own times, they are supposed to repair breaks in time, which otherwise are responsible for their own current condition through a domino effect. The mission is very dangerous as the Exiles can be injured or die along the way. If the are succesful their times go back to normal, and the members will return to the instant they left, if they fail, the altered timelines will become permanent. The Tithing is an ancient guild ceremony, and as the Assassins want the Tithe Collector’s gifts for themselves, they start as the killing members of the Thieves Guild. Jean-Luc, leader of the thieves, thinks that this year it should be Remy LeBeau who receives the gift. Gambit’s brother Henri LeBeau breaks into the mansion, interrupting a Danger Room session, in order to tell Remy what is going on in his home town. However shortly after his arrival he is shot by members of the Assassin’s Guild. Henri’s passing words are that things aren’t always as they seem. Gambit chases the killers down only to be confronted by his previously thought deceased brother-in-law Julien. Gambit fights the Assassins to a stand-still until suddenly Julien lets himself be penetrated by a sword, proving that he can’t be killed. The Assassins leave through a teleportation portal, though not before Julien can taunt Gambit with his sister, Gambit’s wife Bella Donna, still being alive. Against the direct warning not to come to New Orleans, Gambit decides that he has to, as it is family business. He is joined by Rogue who refuses to let him go by himself, even though finding Gambit‘s wife might end the relationship she and Gambit have just started.

While in Rogue’s room, a spying early-616ish Cat, watches as Morph barges in and hands over some shopping bags containing some new uniform choices for Rogue. In the Observation Suite Sage watches over Cat, who’s been sleeping the entire time. Sage is momentarily attacked by the creatures in her mind, which causes Cat to wake up and take off running. Sabretooth looks to see what Cat was checking on last and discovers a prime universe about to go down the toilet. After finding her turned into one of the Infinites, he decides to make a stand and he sacrifices his own life to destroy the shielding generator of Apocalypse’s base. Thanks to Blink’s teleportation powers, the X-Men and their friends secretly enter the pens and find them empty. They proceed to the chamber where Apocalypse has placed the M’Kraan crystal in and prepare to send a team into it to correct the timeline. Destiny reveals that only she, Illyana and Bishop can enter, as they no longer have a counterpart in the true reality. Meanwhile Nate Grey has entered the palace, seeking vengeance for his mentor Forge’s death. Outside in the streets, Jean Grey and Cyclops are leading the people they freed from the pens towards New Jersey. They are unaware of themselves being stalked by Havok, and when Jean senses the death of the many people in the midwestern bombing, she knows that they are about to share the same fate. Sensing the bombs approach, she erects a telekinetic shield over New York. Yet to torture his brother, Havok fires a fatal plasma blast in her back and then kills Cyclops. Although he has only a few seconds to enjoy his victory, as Weapon X stabs him from behind with his claws. Who despite the bombing he returned to be together with Jean, who now dies in his arms. In the remains of the stronghold, Nate Grey is fighting Holocaust and intending to damage his armor he rams a crystal shard into his chest, with unexpected results – both vanish without a trace. Magneto seemingly looses his final battle with Apocalypse, but he was only faking and taking time to concentrate. In the end he manages to charge enough magnetic energy to rip Apocalypse in half. As the bombs hit the ground a few minutes later, Magneto holds his wife and son close to him and he thanks Charles Xavier for giving him such a great dream. In the past Bishop manages to prevent Legion from accidentally killing Xavier. Instead he rams the psi-knife intended for Erik into his own chest, so that Legion sees the nightmarish images of the Age of Apocalypse. Seeing the horror he would cause, Legion dies of the energy feedback, and the old Bishop too fades out as reality reboots. Without Legion to anchor them, the four X-Men who went into the past after him get sucked back to the present. In Israel Charles Xavier, Erik Magnus Lehnsherr and Gabrielle Haller are left behind wondering what happened.

He pools resources with Magneto to fight Apocalypse and his son, and soon the combatants burst through a wall – to where the other X-Men are standing in front of the crystal. While the X-Men protect the crystal from the incoming forces, Destiny, Illyana and Bishop reach the heart of the crystal.

Rogue carries the craft through the cavern with Storm and Thunderbird scouting ahead, and Beast and Bishop clearing the area of things that might get in the way. Brainchild spies on them from the Savage Land and wants to settle an old score with Storm. From afar he causes an explosion and all of a sudden the cavern is flooded with ocean water.
