However he takes Xavier´s card, although making no promises. At Silvermane´s office building he terrorizes the employees with his powers, until they tell him Hammerhead´s location – a run-down factory. At the factory, Hammerhead is already expecting him. He tells Remy that he only let him live before, because his Boss owes Essex a favor and besides the girl is dead already. Hammerhead´s men attack Remy, but he surprises them with his powers. Hammerhead has had enough and tries to kill him, while shouting that afterwards he´ll kill the girl. Remy surprises him as well, by charging up his head and thus killing him. Comic Summary: Cyclops, Iceman and Colossus are on the X-jet on a mission to recruit Quicksilver and the Scarlet Witch. They see them attacking a military convoy. The X-Men try to end the hostilities, but are attacked by the marines instead. Cyclops tries to reason with Wanda, but is knocked down by Pietro. Wanda then uses her magic to transform Peter back to normal human form, so that Quicksilver can take him out with a few punches. She also uses her hex-spheres to destroy Bobby's iceslide. Before Pietro can finish Colossus off, Scott regains his senses and attacks the silver speedster. Pietro tells him they are only trying to retrieve their father's dead body. He runs to the cargo truck to find only his fathers helmet. Upon interrogating the leading marine, they discover that the military never actually found a body. Cyclops tries to convince them once more to join the X-Men. As they are about to accept, a marine fires his gun at Wanda. Pietro intercepts the bullet and knocks out the soldier. Realizing that their father was right about humans, the twins leave. Later brother and sister are discussing the day's events. Quicksilver wants to honor his father's memory; Wanda replies that he hated their father. Pietro tells her that he loved Magneto and he loves her as well. Wanda, shocked at the revelation, runs away. Pietro is left alone and wonders about where his father might be. As he dons the helmet, a tear falls from his eye.

The last is a woman saying that she loves him in French. It is unsaid who she is, but she looks a lot like a younger Callisto, eye patch and all, but nothing was said when she made her appearance in the series about any connection. -
Comic Summary: Rogue awakes in a cell, shackled and guarded by Gambit, who tries to flirt with her and assures her that he has rescued her. Rogue gets close enough to him to absorb his powers, gets rid of her shackles and the guards outside her cell. However, as she wants to flee outside the window, she finds that she is atop a skyscraper. Her abductors introduce themselves as Andrea and Andreas von Strucker, co-presidents of Fenris International and mutants themselves. They’ve had her abducted to make her an offer: to come work for them as an industrial spy, as Gambit does. Rogue is still too outraged, until the Struckers promise her that they would give her full control of her powers and finally the opportunity to touch other people. The X-Men, in the meantime are mad with worrying. Wolverine, with half his face blown off, leaves to follow Rogue and Gambit’s scents. Storm follows after, ordering the others back to the mansion. Back there, Xavier and Jean combine their powers in an attempt to find Rogue. Storm catches up with Wolverine. Comic Summary: Rogue is still doubtful about the offer the von Struckers have made her. They offer to demonstrate and make her wear a special suit designed to control her powers. After some considering, Rogue refuses, feeling that her powers are a punishment for her sins. Fenris change their tune now intending to force her to work for them. Gambit doesn’t like that and, in the ensuing battle, he and Rogue escape together, taking care of both the von Struckers and their security personnel. In the meantime, Wolverine has refused Storm’s advances and has caught up to the two of them. Still angry he intends to do Gambit harm. Back at Xavier’s School, there is some infighting between Iceman, Shadowcat and Dazzler over Rogue’s appearance. Comic Summary: In the lobby of the Empire State Building, Wolverine begins attacking Gambit in spite of Rogue’s protests, while their teammates are closing in on the building in their X-Wing. Ignoring Cyclops’ orders, Iceman makes Nightcrawler teleport the two of them into the penthouse and face the von Struckers. They are eventually joined by their teammates and the von Struckers admit that Rogue is in the lobby. Rogue, in the meantime, has had enough and starts threatening Wolverine with a gun. After what he has done to Gambit, she calls him an animal. Storm joins them just in time to witness Wolverine’s decision to leave the X-Men. She gives Rogue a piece of her mind and runs to join him. Gambit asks Rogue to accompany him. He proves that he isn’t afraid of her power, as he kisses her. Comic Summary: The X-Men, minus Angel as his wings haven’t fully healed yet, are busy fighting Danger Room simulations of some villains Spider-Man managed to defeat in the past. While they fight, Xavier receives an urgent phone call from Nick Fury, who mentions that someone escaped from their custody and might attack the mansion, thanks to his former connection with Rogue. Xavier informs Fury that Rogue no longer is an X-Man, which upsets Fury, as he was never told. Meanwhile in Las Vegas, Rogue and Gambit manage to steal a valuable ruby from a Fenris casino. Afterwards, they spend some time in the big city, talking about Rogue’s bad past with her parents. Suddenly, they are under attack by none other than… the Juggernaut! He wants to have Rogue back for old times sake, and also because he is in love with her. During the battle, Gambit charges up the ruby they stole, which somehow gives Cain even more power than he had before. As the battle continues, Gambit throws some charged up playcards at a construction plate. It crashes on both Gambit and Juggernaut. Cain dies, and Gambit is almost breathless. Rogue gives her beloved a final kiss goodbye, and his powers and soul float inside her body. Three days later, Rogue contacts her ex-boyfriend Iceman at the school. She takes goodbye from him, after mentioning that she is scared. Rogue, while standing at a gas station, leaves, and now permanently has Gambit’s eyes and powers. Comic Summary: SHIELD Headquarters, where Director Carol Danvers complains that she is left to clean up the mess of Ultimatum, and vows that the mutants will be dealt with. At the same time, Shadowcat breaks into SHIELD Headquarters and steals the only remaining piece of Wolverine - an arm and his claws. At Xavier’s School, only Marvel Girl, Rogue and Iceman remain, preparing for the burial of their deceased teammates and associates. Iceman then freezes the entire mansion, and shatters it. While digging one of the graves, Rogue is knocked out by an unseen assailant. Shadowcat arrives and gives Marvel Girl Wolverine’s remains, explaining that she saw a SHIELD file which said Wolverine cannot be cloned from this. At that moment, the unseen assailants reveal themselves as surviving Brotherhood members Mystique and Sabretooth, along with a creation of Magneto’s called Assemble, which combines parts of various members of the Ultimates. They discuss the post-Ultimatum status of mutants, and Mystique suggests that they join together, but Marvel Girl isn’t interested, and blames Mystique for sitting by and letting Magneto get away with as much as he did. The mutants begin battling, with Marvel Girl taking on Mystique, Shadowcat and Sabretooth fighting, and Iceman left to deal with Assemble. Shadowcat skewers Sabretooth with Wolverine’s claws, while Captain America arrives to pay his respects to the deceased - and upon his arrival, decapitates Assemble, while Marvel Girl takes down Mystique, and Rogue regains consciousness. Comic Summary: Rogue, Deadpool, Human Torch and Cable arrive on a yacht where dozens of criminals and villains are enjoying gambling and alcohol. They have come searching information on the Red Skull. None of the villains want to give the Avengers any information, though, so the Human Torch leaves them with the three mutants, and shortly, they rejoin him on the deck, after learning that they should check out the Starnes Bank in Bagalia. With the lead on the Red Skull's whereabouts obtained, Cable plans to return to the future, but when he attempts to bodyslide, his device malfunctions and he finds himself trapped in the present day. Rogue, Deadpool and the Human Torch travel to Bagalia, where Rogue and the Torch infiltrate the bank where the Red Skull is keeping a fortune. As the explore, they come in contact with Gambit, who claims that he was going to steal the Red Skull's fortune. Things are slightly awkward between Rogue and Gambit, and when Rogue attempts to kiss him, Gambit pulls away, fearing the illness she has might be contagious. When they break into the vault, they discover it empty, so Rogue and the Torch leave, unaware that the Red Skull was in disguise as Gambit. His daughter, Sin is with him, and the Red Skull takes a mysterious box from a safety deposit box. The gold is actually in the vault, they were simply disguising all of the gold, which they take, as the Red Skull thinks they can use it to persuade those who Xavier's mind cannot. The Red Skull then reveals that he is going to use Xavier's mind to destroy every man, woman and child who has ever been an Avenger – and that Steve Rogers will feel every single death. Comic Summary: In New Orleans, Gambit is preparing to rob some auction items, when Rogue appears, wanting to know if he was recently in Bagalia. Gambit assures her that he was wasn't, which confirms what Rogue thought – that the Red Skull used Xavier's powers to manipulate her. Gambit tells Rogue to call him when she finds the Red Skull, but Rogue has other matters to deal with when Captain America contacts Rogue to report a capsule entering Earth's atmosphere from the international space station, and the land zone is predicted to be near her location. Rogue flies to where the space junk lands, and is shocked to find Hank Pym, wearing Ultron as some sort of armor. Captain America and Deadpool are at a wildlife preserve dealing with poachers who are trying to take the frustrations out regarding Inhumans. Rogue and Hank soon join them, and Hank tells Cap not to worry about Ultron, claiming that he has conquered him. Cable, Doctor Voodoo, Human Torch, Quicksilver and Synapse soon arrive on scene, most of whom are doubtful about Hank being in control of Ultron. Hank then displays the ability to use Ultron's capabilities, transforming himself into Ultron and claiming that he has not had a burger in months, he flies off. Rogue goes after him, while the others return to their secret hideout. Cap recalls the battle that led to Hank and Ultron departing for space, and goes to contact the Wasp to let her know about Hank's return. Rogue and Hank soon arrive at Avengers Mansion, where Hank is disgusted to see that it had been turned into a tourist attraction during his absence. He then asks Rogue where his memorial is. Rogue takes him to the statue behind the mansion, and Hank blows the statue up, boasting that he is back, before he flies off into the night, with Rogue flying after him. Uncanny X-Force, Volume 1 #11 - The Dark Angel Saga, Chapter One: Journey to the Age of Apocalypse

Comic Summary: The Dark Beast opens a portal to the Age of Apocalypse, and accompanies Wolverine, Psylocke, Deadpool and Fantomex back to his home world, the Age of Apocalypse. There, they find a ruined world, polluted and destroyed, where humans are treated worse than animals by Master Akkaba soldiers. The Dark Beast locates his laboratory and finds the Life Seed - but this reality’s Nightcrawler teleports in, apparently the Dark Beast’s return was anticipated, and Nightcrawler takes the Life Seed, knowing it must be important. Wolverine becomes conflicted when he sees Nightcrawler, given his reality’s Nightcrawler recently died, but Wolverine knows they must get the Life Seed back. As he goes after Nightcrawler he is then attacked by this reality’s Sabretooth and Wild Child. Deadpool and Fantomex challenge Nightcrawler and regain the Life Seed, until Nightcrawler shoves his sword through Deadpool’s head and takes the Life Seed. Fantomex knocks it out of him, but it bounces towards Sunfire, who takes it and destroys it. Meanwhile, Psylocke prevents Wolverine from killing Sabretooth, as she knows this reality’s Sabretooth. Psylocke assures Wolverine that he nothing like the Sabretooth back on their Earth. With the Life Seed destroyed, the Dark Beasts opens a portal back to X-Force’s Earth, and escapes the I>Age of Apocalypse, leaving X-Force stranded. Though tensions run high, X-Force accompany Sabretooth, Nightcrawler and the others back to their undersea base to speak to their leader. Wolverine is still cut up about seeing Nightcrawler, and tells himself that only one other person could tear him up this bad - Jean Grey - and that is exactly who is Nightcrawler takes Wolverine to - Jean Grey…and Magneto! Jean takes the Sentinel down, and soon Wolverine’s team - Psylocke, Deadpool and Fantomex - meet with this world’s remaining X-Men, including a young woman called Kirika. They mutants plan to save this world and help Wolverine and his team return to their world with the Life Seed they require, as the MODOK has located Life Seeds within the Celestial Gardiner. The other part of the plan involves breaking Gateway out of the prison known as the Sky. Wolverine is introduced to Kirika and realizes that this is his world’s daughter. Fantomex confronts Psylocke about her feelings, for Archangel, and for him, and they kiss, but Psylocke is not ready to give up on Archangel. Fantomex and this world’s Rogue, Gambit and Sunfire depart in EVA to collect the Life Seeds, while the others make their way to the Sky in their reconfigured Sentinel. During the journey, Wolverine shares a touching moment with Kirika. Making their way through the prison, the mutants are soon attacked by the Black Legion, and before they can reach Gateway, this world’s Wolverine - Weapon X - appears, and murders Kirika! Comic Summary: Bishop escapes the sewer, and accompanied by the Demon Bear, sets about plotting how he can defeat the Revenants. He thinks about his dealings with the Revenants in the future as he makes a potion. At their warehouse, Psylocke, Storm and Puck are held captive by their Revenant versions of themselves. The Revenants begin to argue, when Bishop arrives and throws the potion into the room, which disorientates the Revenants. He frees Storm and the others, and they engage their Revenant doubles in combat, while Bishop deals to the many other Revenants that have been waiting nearby. Storm, Psylocke and Puck all eventually take out their doubles, who continue to profess to versions of them, albeit distorted. Bishop contemplates his own Revenant double whom he encountered in the future and was forced to kill. Bishop informs his allies that the Revenant Queen is summoning more Revenants to the future and that he needs their help to stop them. Suddenly, Spiral appears, claiming that she knows who the Revenant Queen is.

Comic Summary: Rachel Summers travels back to the late 20th Century after her disciple, Sanctity. Rachel arrives in South Dakota and finds herself in a barn, housing the soon-to-be-complete Master Mold Sentinel factory. Realizing why Sanctity came there, Rachel heads out to find her. Meanwhile, Bolivar Trask writes notes down as his mutant precog son tells more visions of the future. Lawrence Trask wakes up with no memory of his vision, and doesn’t even know that he is a mutant, as his father tells him that when he collapses and tells visions it is just him passing out from stress. Rachel finds them and overhears their conversations and thinks about how their Sentinels will wreak havoc in the future. Suddenly, Sanctity attacks Rachel and the two women debate the right Sanctity has to alter the past, but Rachel realizes she wasn’t fighting Sanctity, but a psionic form of her. The real Sanctity, who is actually Trask’s daughter, confronts her father who is overjoyed to find his long lost daughter. Sanctity tells her father how she was lost in time, thanks to her powers, but Rachel pulled her to “shore” in the far future. However, Rachel comes and erases Trask’s mind of this encounter and lectures Sanctity. Sanctity seemingly gives up and the two return to the future, but Rachel is not aware that Sanctity has uploaded a program known as “The Twelve” into the programming of Master Mold.

This was due to a mishap in shipping/printing that caused other X-titles, featuring Gambit, to reach the hands of some comic fans before Uncanny X-Men #266. As storyline falls, #266 is the first appearance of Gambit and #266-#267 falls before the stories in which he meets and joins the X-Men. Gambit meets Storm (Ororo Monroe) in a child-like state, The Nanny, The Orphen Maker, and Dr. Lian Shen for the first time in #266. Appears in original uniform for the first time, with slight differences in color that were later changed. This comic features a rare occasion of Remy using his "charm powers". A mutant ability that is omitted by many writers but than used in future story lines by others as they see fit. When used, he has the ability to "hypnotize" his victims with his voice, causing them to do be mesmerized and sometime fall in love with him. This power has led to much speculation and argument between fans on if the charm power is an actual mutant ability or just his training as a thief. It has also created a large trend of empathic abilities or other strong mental abilities being wrote into many Gambit fan-fictions and doujinshi all over the world. -

Comic Summary: Lian Shen and her Hounds have pursued Ororo and Gambit to a plane junkyard, where the two heroes barely manage to escape thanks to Ororo lifting a derelict plane with her powers. After an encounter with Nanny and the Orphan-Maker that leaves Ororo in his hysterics and denial, she and Gambit arrive in Gambit’s home, New Orleans, where the two of them begin to work as partners-in-crime. During Mardi Gras, Nanny and the Orphan-Maker catch up with them and capture Gambit, though Ororo secretly follows. On Nanny’s ship, she finally remembers how she was captured and taken there. While Nanny had Havok “kill” a SHIELD life decoy model with Storm’s features, the real Storm was reduced to childhood and stripped of her memories. Her panic gave Storm the berserker strength to overload Nanny’s systems and flee before he process was complete. With her memories intact, Ororo confronts Nanny and Orphan-Maker over Gambit. Their battle makes the ship crash in the swamp, with apparently only Storm and Gambit surviving. Afterward, Gambit suggests they continue their partnership. Comic Summary: Storm is examined by Forge, but her condition of being stuck in a child’s body seems to be permanent. She renews her deep friendship with Jean Grey who visits from X-Factor. Later the school is attacked by Genoshan troops and surprisingly the missing Havok is with them. Storm realizes that they are outnumbered and taken by surprise and so she decides to lock the underground complex. By this she dooms the fates of herself, Boom-Boom, Rictor, Wolfsbane and Warlock who are all captured and teleported to Genosha, but she ensures that at least the other halves of the teams remain free to prepare a rescue mission. Comic Summary: The captured members of the X-teams are put on trial in Genosha. They are offered to volunteer for the mutate bonding process, otherwise they have to face death. All of them choose the later and are brought to Cameron Hodge, who enjoys to have so many “toys“. The mechanical monster has Archangel and Wolverine fight each without restraints and forces the others to watch. Psylocke pretends to no longer bear the brutality and accepts to be transformed into a mutate. Soon after she is led away she surprises her guards with her asian ninja skills and escapes. The Genegineer Moreau and Tam Anderson decide that Hodge has finally snapped and plot behind his back. Outside the citadel Dr. Moreau orders a mutate to create a tunnel below the citadel; not aware that they are being watched by Rictor, Jubilee and Boom-Boom. Cameron Hodge murders Wipeout and frames Magistrate Havok for the crime, getting rid of both the only way for the X-Men to regain their powers and a possible opponent. Tam Anderson and Psylocke take mutate 20 (Storm) to the prisoners, who have just freed themselves thanks to Gambit’s lockpicking. Something strange happens as Storm hits Cyclops with a lightning. Comic Summary: Zaladane has erected many citadels in the Savage Land and is now in synch with earth’s magnetic field. With her magnetic powers she has scrambled all communication within the Savage Land, and the effects of her mad quest for power are already felt far away, as Argentina was hit by a massive earthquake. SHIELD have sent in Nick Fury and a team of agents, but most of them perish in battle against Zaladane and her Savage Land Mutates. Magneto and Rogue have allied up with Ka-Zar but they don’t fare much better. Apparently something went wrong when Magneto reintegrated her bio-matrix, as she is only a shadow of her former self. Her absorption power doesn’t work and she is only slightly stronger than an average person. Magneto finds himself in a moral conflict, he knows that there is only one way to stop Zaladane, but killing her would surely end his beginning relationship with Rogue. Meanwhile the X-Men have been teleported to Shi’Ar space by Lila Cheney. Immediately they get captured by Deathbird who wants them to kill Charles Xavier. Comic Summary: In the Savage Land, Magneto, Rogue and Ka-Zar accompany Nick Fury and his SHIELD agents to try to defeat Zaladane and her forces. However one of the SHIELD agents shoots Magneto out of the sky for him having caused his son’s death and then allies up with Zaladane. Brainchild uses a machine to transfer Magneto’s energies to Zaladane, but Rogue, Ka-Zar and Nick Fury free him. Right in time Rogue’s powers return, her healing process (Uncanny X-Men #269) was only somewhat delayed. During the confusion of the battle, Magneto uses the same machine to drain Zaladane of her energies and soon the villainess and her forces are defeated. Magneto takes revenge and kills Zaladane with metallic spikes, so that she never may pose a threat again. He departs. Rogue absorbs Worm’s power to free the many savages under his control. She realizes the Magneto she came to respect and was attracted to is no more. In outer space, the X-Men free themselves from the tentacles that were holding them on Deathbird’s command. While Wolverine gets after Deathbird, the X-Men meet their old friends the Starjammers and Lilandra, who eventually defeat the Imperial Guard. After that, the X-Men are reunited with their long lost founder Charles Xavier! When Wolverine brings Deathbird back to Lilandra, who puts her to justice, the gang decide to celebrate their victory and Lilandra becomes rightful Empress again. For the new members of the team it is the first time in space and they try to adjust to it in their own ways. While meditating, Psylocke gets knocked out by an unseen villain. Jubilee and Gambit find a secret passage and see Professor X taking mental control of Gladiator and Oracle and ordering Deathbird’s death. Comic Summary: Gambit and Jubilee observe Xavier mentally controlling Gladiator into torturing Deathbird. They decide to attack him, and during the battle a wall gives in, revealing the shackled Lila Cheney behind. Gambit frees her and in the battle, she teleports away with Deathbird. Xavier and Gladiator are too powerful and succeed in capturing Jubilee, however Gambit slips away. The battle is not unnoticed and the other X-Men, Starjammers and Lilandra hurry to the fight scene. Gladiator and Xavier say that Deathbird escaped with the help of Lila, but claim to have not seen the two missing X-Men. However Wolverine picks up the scent of his young companion and sensing something wroing with Xavier, he rams his claws into him. While all are shocked, Psylocke uses her telepathy to knock the apparently mad Logan out. Right then Deathbird and Lila appear and teleport the remaining X-Men away. They show the X-Men that Lilandra and Xavier are responsible for genocide. Back at the palace it turns out that the Starjammers, Psylocke and Xavier have all been replaced by power mimicing Warskrulls. While they add Logan and Jubilee to their collection of imprisoned specimen, the Warskrulls replace the deceased “Xavier“ with a new one, and again they have Lilandra and through her the Shi’ar Empire under control. Comic Summary: The X-Men fight the Starjammers, who turn out to be Warskrulls in disguise. From inside their ship, Gambit helps his friends, while Lila Cheney and Deathbird discover the Warskrulls matrix chamber, where all captives are held in some strange techno-organic net. The real Xavier mentally guides Lila to teleport the rest of the X-Men into that chamber as well and a big fight starts. At first the X-Men (Storm, Forge, Banshee, Gambit) seem to hold their ground against Gladiator and the Skrull versions of Wolverine, Psylocke and Jubilee, but the fake Xavier then attacks them with his telepathy. However the matrix control was damaged in the fight, allowing the real Xavier to free himself, and in direct battle, the original proves to be better than the copy. With their leader’s defeat all Warskrulls decompose. Xavier explains that after his capture, he was sending out psychic S.O.S. calls and surprisingly found a sympathitic soul in Deathbird. It was him who subconsciously influenced her to get Lila Cheney and the X-Men to help. Lilandra wants to talk with her sister about the throne, but Deathbird says that she no longer wants it, in fact she came to hate the daily duties of monitoring the huge Empire, and she leaves. The X-Men inform Xavier of how they fared in his absence and of Moira’s strange behavior and he understands that the Shadow King is back. He says goodbye to his love Lilandra and decides to go back to Earth with the X-Men. Meanwhile in Salem Center, Stevie Hunter is attacked by Colossus, who already is under the Shadow King’s control. Moira has her residents train against each other in some battle arena. Even new arrivals Rogue and Lila Cheney’s bodyguard Guido are fighting there. Rogue defeats him and the crowd cheeres, however she wonders what happens. Not before long the Shadow King takes control of her too. Xavier sends the X-men to check on Muir Island, while he heads to the remains of the mansion in Westchester to use Cerebro, both for contacting X-factor and to identify the cause of the psychic statis all over the world. On Muir, the X-Men are taken by surprise and defeated by the various residents who are all under the Shadow King’s control. On Muir Island, only Forge remained free from the Shadow King’s influence and the other X-Men are hunting him. Yet Forge is able to use a neurosynaptic scrambler on Wolverine and when being discovered by Rogue, he knocks her unconscious with a gun. The Shadow King realizese that he needs a new host body, as that of FBI agent Jacob Reisz is beginning to deteriorate. Comic Summary: Xavier inspects the ruins of Muir Island and finds X-Factor and the free X-Men held in a telekinteic field by Legion, who has been made the Shadow King’s new host body. The Professor and the Shadow King fight and Storm, who had remained hidden after her defeat by Legion, zaps him with a lightning, causing him to loose control over the telekinetic field and retreating. Xavier and the free mutants come up with a plan, Xavier will engage the Shadow King on the astral plane, with Jean anchoring him and Storm, Cyclops, Colossus and Archangel shielding them from physical attacks, while Beast, Banshee, Iceman, Forge and Rogue will enter the lab complex to disruprt the Shadow King’s nexus. Xavier is not faring very well on the astral plane, as his astral injuries all show on his physical body too. First his legs are broken and he suffers more injuries. The lab team has to fight the mutants still influenced by the Shadow King, and many personal issues hinder them, like Banshee having to go up against Moira and Syrin for example. The team that is supposed to guard Xavier enters the astral plane too through Jean’s telepathy to help the Professor, yet this exposes him to physical danger in the form of Legion lurking around. The Shadow King now can destroy both Xavier’s mind and body, but before he fulfills his deed, Forge uses a neuro-synaptic weapon on Psylocke and while she is still dazed, he plunges her psychic blade into Polaris’s head, disrupting the Nexus and the Shadow King’s power source. Bishop is about to avenge Malcolm and Randall’s death, when the X-Men arrive. Bishop shoots at Storm but is actually aiming for the killer behind her. The team mistakes Bishop’s shots as hostility and attack him, which leads to Bishop being impaled. While the X-Men discover the truth, Bishop runs after the last criminal, Styglut, only to pass out in an alley. While unconscious, Bishop dreams about the events preceding this in his own time, when he and the others captured Fitzroy in the sewers. They discovered a recording by Jean Grey in the sewers, proving that the X-Men were killed by one of their own. Bishop contacted the Witness, who reportedly was the last to see the X-Men alive, but the man refused to help. Fitzroy escaped from prison and took an army of criminals to the past. Bishop, Malcolm and Randall followed. Bishop wakes up in the infirmary, convinced that these are the real X-Men. His next course of action is to find out who set him up. At Xavier’s mansion the other X-Men and X-Factor gather data on Stryfe. It’s not much: they only know of his connection to the MLF and that he may be Cable in disguise. They let Cannonball help bring Stryfe in, in exchange for X-Force’s information on the MLF. Despite all their setbacks, self-induced or brought upon them by villains, they still have the strength to overcome. Rogue sits on top of the mansion. With her eyes injured, she barely sees a thing, as if not being allowed to touch wasn’t enough. Gambit wants to comfort her, but Rogue pushes him away, yet he tells her that everything will turn out fine. Xavier has temporary use of his legs as an after-effect of the T-O virus he was infected with. Jubilee takes him roller-blading and then makes him fall in the pool; they have lots of fun, and Jubilee admits she never thought the Professor could be a normal person behind his stiff facade. Comic Summary: Charles Xavier has been secluded for over three days, accessing information from all around the world. Bishop disturbs him and says he must tender his resignation. The Professor wants nothing of it, not giving up on Bishop as easily as Bishop appears willing to give up on the X-Men. Jean Grey is filling in for him and Cyclops, taking over a Danger Room session with Archangel, Gambit and Bishop. Over at a school called Our Mother of the Sacred Heart, Sharon Friedlander is attacked and killed by a group of Acolytes, her last act being a desperate call for help to Charles Xavier. While receiving some information from Detective Charlotte Jones, Charles hears the cry for help and summons his X-Men to her location, sixty miles north of the mansion. At the school, Tom Corsi arrives back with a bus full of kids and senses something is wrong, just before the Kleinstock brothers blow up the school and attack the bus. Tom manages to kill Eric Kleinstock but Carmella Unuscione attacks him. Fortunately, the four X-Men arrive and a fight ensues. The X-Men are disgusted by the attitude of the Acolytes and even more so when they discover that the mutant they came to find is actually a young boy with Downs Syndrome. The Acolytes attack the bus, forcing the X-Men, along with Storm, who arrives to dowse the flames, to save to children while they make their escape. Comic Summary: Exodus, the proclaimed Voice of Magneto, has arrived amongst the Acolytes and informed them that not only is Magneto alive, but Cortez had betrayed their savior and had attempted to kill him. Abandoning Cortez, the Acolytes accompany Exodus to Avalon, the haven Magneto has constructed for them. Elsewhere, both Magneto and Xavier are tied up in thoughts of their past. Magneto remembers the night his daughter, Anya, died and how it changed his life, steering it down the road it is on today. Xavier questions whether upsetting the course of lives for his X-Men has been wise and even shrugs off a message from Lilandra reminding him that he is never truly alone. Anticipating the upcoming funeral of his sister, Illyana, Colossus withdraws even more emotionally and refuses the affection of Kitty, his closest friend. At the funeral of Illyana, which is attended by all of the X-Men and their allies, the grief of Colossus turns to rage. The sentiments are joined by Magneto, who arrives unexpectedly with his Acolytes. After holding the attending crowd in their place with his powers, Magneto offers then a place in his haven, Avalon. Displaying his massive fortress for them, Magneto returns his Acolytes to the station, continuing to address the X-Men alone. The X-Men manage to get the upper hand against Magneto until Colossus intercedes. Declaring that he wishes to join Magneto’s cause, having tried Xavier’s way, Colossus is levitated to Avalon, to join the rest of the Acolytes. As the presence of Avalon is still a threat, Xavier mentally commandeers Magneto’s powers and uses them to raise he, Magneto and Avalon into space. While Xavier and his crew fight on, in the streets of Hammer Bay Sersi and Exodus battle it out. Finally Exodus is able to get the upper hand and he leaves to find his attended target. The rest of the Avengers on the ground try and stop Sersi from chasing after him seeing how the two of them have done more damage to the city than the riot could have even hoped to cause. Looking away from Genosha for a moment, the other Avengers stand infront of the United Nations. The Black Widow officially resigns the Avengers from being the UN’s watchdogs, because they want to be Avengers again. Back in Genosha the X-Men make their way through a public building where they come to the realization that they cannot save every human and mutant in Genosha, thanks to the two rioting parties hatred. Below Genosha in the sewer system Quicksilver and Jean Grey search for a way into Genosha’s capitol so the two of them can try to free Luna from Cortez’s possession. While down there they run into the Scarlet Witch and Crystal who at first mistake the others for being Cortez. Just as Pietro and Crystal begin to reconcile their differences Cortez walks out holding Luna. Using her telepathy, Jean shares with Scott her memories of defining moments of her realizations that he is in fact her one first love. The two profess their love for each other and discuss what the future may hold for them. They pass the other members of the X-Men that are spending their day in the yard raking leaves and playing football. They mention that it has been so long since the team has been able to unwind and relax especially considering all they have gone through as a whole lately. Scott and Jean recall more memories of their past and further discuss what the future may hold when Jean asks Scott to marry her. The team gathers for Thanksgiving dinner and while Charles presents a speech to the team, Scott informs them all that he and Jean are engaged. The team happily embraces in the announcement, only Xavier has some reservations about the news, though he keeps them for himself. Comic Summary: It’s the day of Scott’s bachelor party, and the male X-Men, current and former members, are in a bar, eagerly anticipating the arrival of Scott. While they are waiting most of them tell each other some jokes, while Bishop, being from the future, is confused about the concept of a bachelor’ party and Gambit is agitated by Sabretooth living in the mansion. Just as Scott and Sean leave the school to join the others, they hear an alarm going off, and turn back to investigate. In the Danger Room they find Cable, watching a holographic projection of the day Scott had to send him, as a baby, to the future. Cyclops tells Sean to go ahead, while he needs to sort this out with Cable. Nathan blames Scott for not caring about him, it didn’t seem like he was thinking about the impact this decision would have on the baby. Scott however intends to prove otherwise and shows him another projection, of how shortly after the event, he was overwhelmed by his guilt and angrily lashed out with his powers. They are unaware of the X-Cutioner sneaking into the mansion, piggy-backing on Cable’s body-slide. He sets out to find the comatose Emma Frost in the med lab and kill her as punishment for her crimes. From the basement, Sabretooth picks up his scent and alerts Cyclops and Nathan. Together they are able to stop the X-Cutioner, who teleports away, though Cable is not sure why they even defend the White Queen who tried to kill the X-Men several times. Scott explains that when they stop to show compassion for the enemy they become the enemy. Cable realizes that he has been wrong about Scott and that he is indeed a caring person. He tells him that he is proud to have him as a father, and that he will attend the wedding. As he teleports away, cable drops Scott off at the bar where the others are waiting for him. Comic Summary: The story begins with Yukio and Ororo being thrown from a nightclub window from an attack by the Phalanx. The Phalanx is in pursuit of Yukio in an attempt to assimilate her into their core so that they may use her information about the X-men and mutants in general to destroy them. Yukio makes aware that she is part of Xavier's underground and that if she was assimilated it would be bad for everyone. Across town, on the way to join the two woman, is Gambit. After seeing what he knows has to be lightning generated by Storm's powers, he tracks the two women and joins in the fight just in time to save them by throwing his motorcycle into the Phalanx then blowing it up. Yukio recognizes Gambit and instantly attacks him once the threat is gone, but Storm stops her and explains he is a friend. Before the past between Yukio and Gambit can be explained that Phalanx attacks again in the form of a woman from the National Security Office. Meanwhile, at the mansion, Beast tries to save Iceman who was caught in a power surge, caused by Sabretooth's escape.

Comic Summary: Gambit is fighting for his life against the Phalanx after he and Yukio were knocked into the cold water of the Hudson River. He manages to fight off the Phalanx long enough to grab a drowning Yukio and drags her to a nearby dock only to disappear after her refusal of help from him. Meanwhile at the mansion, Iceman has taken a turn for the worse, alive, but his powers are out of control and Sabretooth and Xavier have a disagreement on Victor's current addiction to the "glow". Back at the Phalanx battleground Storm battles it out, trying everything she can to destroy the Phalanx without destroying the people it has assimilated, after finding out that the people sacrificed themselves to the Phalanx. The sympathy for the Phalanx almost causes her downfall, but Gambit steps in to do what she could not and kill the Special Forces Officer. Inside the Phalanx the assimilated argue amongst themselves, including Steven Lang, Warlock, and Hodge on how to go about the matter at hand with their target Yukio causing enough disruption to allow Gambit to charge a large anchor and bring it down on the Phalanx head. After a warning from Yukio to Gambit about how she will kill him if Storm gets hurt, they enjoy their victory before dropping off Yukio at the airport.

Comic Summary: An evening car ride in Monaco turns disastrous when a member of the Phalanx decides to attack. Both the driver and another passenger are assimilated. However, the young girl, Monet, sits emotionless as she is taken prisoner and transported away. The Phalanx notes that she is likely the most powerful of the next generation of Homo Superior. Meanwhile, at Xavier’s Institute for Gifted Youngsters, Banshee returns from a trip to Massachusetts to find things are not well. He has a bizarre confrontation with Storm over the White Queen’s treatment as well as a heated discussion with Archangel over a transmission Banshee picked up from Scott and Jean. To make matters worse Jubilee is locked in a Danger Room training session alone and Banshee spots Psylocke coming out of Xavier’s private ready room. When he decides to investigate he finds Gambit and Bishop already there doing some work on Cerebro. Knowing something is wrong, Banshee mentions that Xavier is walking again and neither X-Man corrects him. Banshee leaves worried and uses the computer system to locate any real X-Men. The computer responds that there are only four mutants in the mansion: Banshee, Jubilee, Sabretooth and the White Queen. After an unsuccessful attempt to get out a call in the communications room, Banshee decides to free Sabretooth to get some help. He first has to battle Rogue who he discovers is a member of the Phalanx. After freeing Sabretooth, Banshee goes to the Ready Room to set the self-destruct sequence while Sabretooth goes off to rescue Jubilee and the White Queen. They all end up in the sewers beneath the mansion, Banshee having successfully blown up the ready room and destroying the remaining Phalanx. Prior, Banshee got out a message to the X-Men on Muir about what happened telling them to start searching for the missing X-Men. Comic Summary: Angelo Espinosa has his sights set on leaving Xavier’s for good, and he inadvertently hitches a ride with Hank McCoy, who seems unable to persuade him otherwise. Scott and Jean chat with Charles Xavier about their experiences in the future raising Nathan. Charles has a lot to digest, having absorbed their memories of the last ten years. He is feeling the strain, especially considering much of his work was destroyed by Banshee to avoid it being taken by the Phalanx. Meanwhile, the new recruits go shopping in Westchester, and the X-Men seem pleased that they appear to be getting on so well. Back at the estate, Bobby Drake confronts Emma Frost over what she did whilst in his body. She taunts him a little, and effectively states that he needs to discover how to control his powers himself without her help. He needs to push himself further. Jubilee has her bags packed, and Archangel arrives for a surprising farewell chat. Jubilee hits out at him, but quickly apologizes. She just doesn’t want him to make the same mistakes that she has. Banshee arrives back at the mansion to collect Jubilee, with Emma having taken the others to their new home in Massachusetts. Charles assures him that he’s the best man for the job. At the CNBC building, Beast confronts Trish Tilby about her broadcast about the legacy virus and she ends up putting the blame on the X-Men for the mob death of a mutant. As she starts to apologies, Beast leaves. At city hall, Graydon Creed talks to a crowd about the club massacre the night before. While at the city morgue, Storm, Wolverine, Cannonball, and Det. Jones talk to a doctor about the bodies. He starts to explain what’s wrong with them, when Wolverine attacks him. From the body of the doctor rises Sack, who was hiding in him. Comic Summary: Psylocke takes a clandestine tour through Gambit’s mind, but Remy spots her and warns her to keep out. He doesn’t want his secrets revealed just yet. In New York, Storm, Cannonball, Wolverine and Detective Charlotte Jones are faced with a new threat coming from two mutants, who say they are members of a previously unheard of group called Gene Nation, which promises to kill one hundred humans for every mutant they have killed. Cannonball takes on Sack, while the stronger Vessel faces Wolverine and Storm. They disrupt a Friends of Humanity rally, and Beast steps in to save Graydon Creed from a chunk of masonry thrown by Vessel. He then watches, as Storm proceeds to use her lighting powers to release the ‘lights’ inside Vessel, while Cannonball manages to prevent absorption by Sack by smashing them both into the ground. Vessel and Sack manage to escape, leaving Storm to swear they will pay for their crimes. Comic Summary: Following a friendly baseball game involving members of the X-Men and Generation X, Colossus teleports inside the mansion’s grounds, carrying an injured Callisto, who is quickly taken to receive medical attention. When she comes to, she informs the X-Men that a group of renegade Morlocks, calling themselves Gene Nation, are planning to kill a hundred humans for every Morlock who died during the mutant massacre. The X-Men quickly head to Manhattan, where Gene Nation hold a group of humans hostage, with their young leader, Marrow, attaching incendiary devices to them, linked to her own heartbeat. After brief skirmishes in the tunnels, Storm and Callisto find Marrow and her cohorts and Marrow challenges Storm to a fight, as payback for what she believes to be Storm’s betrayal when she was the leader of the Morlocks. Storm takes up the challenge and they begin a ferocious battle. With the only way to prevent the bombs exploding being to stop Marrow’s heart beating, Storm shows she has the guts to do this and rips Marrow’s heart from her chest, thereby disarming the bombs, but killing Marrow in the process. Meanwhile, Gambit receives a phone call from Rogue, who is on a road trip with Iceman, and senses that she remembers everything that she absorbed during their kiss. He heads out to try and speak with her. Shortly after, Mister Sinister is informed by Threnody that Gambit is travelling to Seattle, and she was asked to inform him if Gambit ever went there. Comic Summary: Gambit sits on the roof of the Institute, feeling chained to the past and fearful of the future. Storm joins him and her answers to Remy’s questions about the nature of a person go nowhere to allay his sense of pessimism. In San Francisco, Beast and Professor Xavier attempt to play down the possible threat that the Legacy Virus has brought with it. Audience member Renee Majcomb is sceptical and it falls to Dr. Valerie Cooper to put a government slant on the argument by insisting that, at this point, there is insufficient scientific information available to determine whether it is a threat. At the Institute, Boomer begins to doubt Sabretooth’s sincerity but Gambit has no doubts, and tries to torture him with holographic images of the people Creed has killed. When he goes too far, Storm steps in and warns him off. After the conference in San Francisco, Hank finds Professor Xavier in a contemplative mood and they discuss Sabretooth and his possible rehabilitation. Hank makes the point that Creed has committed many crimes and it is in his nature to kill. They couldn’t change him, and they shouldn’t let Sabretooth change them. Comic Summary: Wolverine and Archangel have put on ninja clothing, as it’s etiquette for the place they and Gomurr the Ancient are about to visit. They enter a warehouse, where lots of carnival heads are stashed. They also get the visit from Dr. Strange in his astral form, who explains that he shall accompany them on this mission. Suddenly, Logan freaks out and slices through Strange with his claws! Strange survives though, and notices that Logan rescued him from an attack of Undercloaks. Unfortunately, more Undercloaks enter and a battle begins. Meanwhile at Xavier’s, Gambit visits Psylocke at the Infirmary. He wonders if she ever discovered anything from his clouded past when entering his head unwanted, realizing that, if Betsy dies, his secrets will once again be safe from everyone. Suddenly, Betsy’s body starts to heavily shake, and Remy warns Beast and the Professor to come check upon it. At the Netherplace, Warren’s wing injuries catch up with him, but he still continues the quest to save Psylocke’s life. They are introduced to Tar, the current Proctor of the Crimson Dawn blood. However, he refuses to help the travelers and sends out his Neon minions to the attack and teleports Gomurr out of his sight, as Tar can’t stand the little guy. As Logan battles the minions on his own, Strange and Warren use the distraction to their advantage and make it to the Vein where the Crimson Blood is held. Strange pulls out Betsy’s soul out of Warren’s heart, at least the part that she entrusted to him. The soul floats into the Vein and, at Xavier’s, Psylocke’s body recovers but there is now a strange mark on her eyes. Tar sends everyone back to Earth, with the X-Men and Gomurr pleased that the mission was a success. However, Emma refuses helping him and urges him to unlock his own potential, fully aware that Bobby has yet to explore the full range of his powers. After Emma taunts him with a series of illusions, Bobby finally succeeds in changing back to his human form, his chest completely intact, proving Emma’s point. Meanwhile, back at the mansion, Dark Beast continues posing as Beast, while in Archangel’s mountain house in Colorado, Warren has a confrontation with Xavier. Somewhere else, Cyclops and Jean land in the location where some of the X-Men fought Onslaught’s herald, only to discover the place curiously untouched, as if the battle had never taken place there. Comic Summary: Several X-Men hover in a Blackbird over the Pentagon in case Gambit and Phoenix need backup. The latter two X-Men are sneaking into a multinational secret meeting on mutants. Bastion tells the various dignitaries at the meeting that an entity known as Onslaught is making its presence felt randomly all over the globe. Even with the combined integration intelligence, they still do not know if it is an organization or a single entity. Bastion finishes his lecture by pulling a gun and aiming it directly at Gambit and Phoenix. Phoenix is astonished to discover that her telekinetic power does not work on him. The soldiers hesitate to fire because of all the civilians present. This gives Gambit and Phoenix the chance to run for it. Phoenix senses people on the other side of a door so Gambit uses his cards to blow a hole in the wall. They escape into a room of sleeping soldiers. As they are reunited with Storm and the others Phoenix is telepathically contacted by a force that claims to have put the soldiers to sleep as a gift to allow them to escape. Senator Kelly invites Cyclops to his house for a clandestine meeting. He informs Cyclops of an organization with an international agenda against mutants. Neither are aware of the van listening outside Senator Kelly’s home. Cyclops dives to protect Senator Kelly just as the room explodes around them in flame Archangel and Psylocke are practicing maneuvers at Archangels home in the Rocky Mountains while they both heal from their previous injuries. A living shadow makes its present felt. Psylocke cries out psionically, causing her to pass out on the ground. Archangel goes to her rescue, only to pass from exhaustion next to her. . Comic Summary: Juggernaut swims in the lake near Cyclops’ and Phoenix’s home. Back at the mansion Bishop and Gambit to go check out the alarm. They confront Juggernaut and are quickly beaten by him. Cyclops’ Danger Room training session is interrupted by a frightened Phoenix who just had an encounter with Onslaught on the psionic plane. As time goes by, her memory of the event dims, but she remembers Onslaught asking her to join him. Later, Phoenix returns home only to find Gambit and Bishop dumped on her front porch by Juggernaut who convinces her he came here to help. He claims to have the secret of Onslaught locked in his head and he says he needs her help to unlock it. Phoenix takes Juggernaut to the bottom levels of the mansion so they can discover the answer of the question: Who is Onslaught? Meanwhile, Xavier meets with Sam in his study. In the infirmary, the Dark Beast examines Wolverine while Storm and Iceman look on. Beast tells Wolverine he needs to run more tests, and Wolverine gets of the table and runs away in anger saying he has other resources. Storm decides to go after Wolverine but ends up talking to Cannonball about the Professor’s behavior. Scott tries to find Xavier through the computer only to be told that Xavier is in his study where he has been for the past 48 hours. Cyclops comes to the conclusion that he was undergoing some sort of test to teach him to be prepared for anything. In Colorado, Archangel and Psylocke try to contact the mansion. Neither of them is successful so they decide on a trip to Westchester. In New Hampshire, Creed meets with Bastion after he finishes a speaking engagement. Bastion wonders to himself what his supporters would do if they knew Creeds parents were Mystique and Sabretooth. Comic Summary: Ozymandias finds that his lord, Apocalypse, has awakened. Apocalypse tells Ozymandias that the Age of Wonders is ending, before proceeding outside to meet Uatu the Watcher, whose presence seems to indicate that Apocalypse is correct. The Avengers and X-Man reach Xavier’s school, which is in ruins. The X-Men prevent the Avengers from proceeding before they can confirm their identities, but X-Man is impatient and uses his powers to find out what happened from the team’s collective thoughts and creates a psionic image of Onslaught, which Cyclops reveals is actually Charles Xavier, influenced by Magneto. X-Force arrives at the mansion and Cyclops asks them to watch X-Man, whom he suspects Onslaught might also be after, though X-Man is reluctant to stay. Storm learns that Cable has left on his own and decides to go after him, since he may also be a potential target. The Avengers decide that they need to find the real Magneto and head out to search, while others warn the Fantastic Four that Franklin Richards is one of Onslaught’s targets. Bishop apologizes to Gambit for always accusing him of being the X-traitor, when it was actually Xavier, and Gambit graciously accepts it. On Muir Island, Moira announces to Excalibur that she needs to unseal the secret Xavier Protocols and has invited Cyclops and Phoenix, who have asked Archangel and Psylocke to rendezvous with them, to Muir Island. As Wolverine leaves the mansion to play out a hunch, Onslaught enters the lair of Dark Beast, who has agreed to assemble of group of minions for his new master. Comic Summary: Apocalypse and Uatu watch New York from above and see the action as it unfolds. Apocalypse wonders whether, if in the end, Onslaught would be the one to survive. Joseph saves some people trapped in a subway, but they attack him, thinking he caused all the problems. Gambit saves him and the two men talk, which leads Joseph to confront Onslaught. Rogue thanks Gambit for trying and the two give chase. Hawkeye fails to breach Onslaught’s defenses and regroups with Iceman and the Human Torch, who are joined by Psylocke, Cyclops, Mr. Fantastic and the Invisible Woman. While Psylocke and Hawkeye search for survivors, Reed takes Iceman and the Torch to gather data on Onslaught. Xavier awakens with Onslaught and is horrified that the beast kidnapped Franklin. He explains to Franklin why the boy cannot give into Onslaught, but the beast informs Xavier that he has already added the boy into his power! Joseph attacks Onslaught, who shows the hero that he no longer needs Xavier and proceeds to slowly kill him. Cyclops, Invisible Woman, Storm, Cable, Thor, Gambit and Rogue regroups and Thor is able to rip Xavier out. This, however, makes Onslaught more powerful, as he is now free of Xavier. The being unleashes a psionic storm that would have killed the heroes had Cable and Sue not used their powers to protect them all. Comic Summary: Wolverine and Professor Xavier are sitting in the early morning rain, amongst the ruins of the mansion. Charles is feeling sorry for himself, and Wolverine has taken it upon himself to deliver a pep talk. Charles feels the guilt of Onslaught weighing heavily upon his shoulders. Wolverine’s duty there is to reaffirm Charles’s belief in what the X-Men are all about. Meanwhile, Graydon Creed makes an impassioned speech for the cameras at the site of Onslaught’s defeat. Watching on television, J. Jonah Jameson feels there’s more to Creed than meets the eye, and wants information on him, fast. At the mansion, Cyclops tells Beast it’s good to have him back, after inadvertently blasting him with his optic beam. Iceman’s intervention and the resulting jocularity causes Jean to smile. A week ago, she could never have conceived that they would enjoy laughter again. Quicksilver is with her, struggling to get over the loss of his wife and sister. He must go on, he informs Jean, if only for the sake of his daughter. He hears the door handle turn, and prepares the table before Psylocke even enters the kitchen. She is a little distant, but Jean puts this down to changes of late. They’ve all been confronted by change. Logan and Charles continue their conversation, with Logan reminding him that he is the sole reason he stayed with the X-Men. A lot of others feel the same way too, and they’d hate to think that Charles pulled one over one them. He joins the others at the breakfast table and, for the time being, things appear to be looking up. Meanwhile, at Operation: Zero Tolerance, Bastion overlooks the ongoing plans for mutantkind’s downfall, telling Harper that they will all be very sorry if they fail. Comic Summary: Archangel mysteriously molts his metal wings and gains feathered ones, and ends up helping the X-men subdue an out-of-control Pyro at a church. Meanwhile, Iceman and Cannonball infiltrate Graydon Creed’s campaign, posing as volunteers. Archangel, feeling weak from his transformation, finds himself drawn to a church where the Legacy-Virus-infected Pyro is confessing to a priest. Some of the X-Men (Psylocke, Beast, Gambit, Wolverine, Joseph) take the Blackbird and use a smalll cerebro unit to track Warren down. They find the church, which is now on fire, and rescue the priest, who tells them that Pyro is there. Pyro’s power is going out of control due to the virus. The X-men manage to subdue him, and he starts to warn them about someone (“her“) wanting to assassinate Graydon Creed, but he is taken by Avalanche before he can say who it is. Comic Summary: Iceman’s cover in Creed’s campaign is blown and his father is almost killed by Creed’s men. The X-Men comfort Iceman at the hospital; Bobby resigns from active duty since he wants to oversee his father’s recovery. Despite of the danger Cannonball decides to stay in the campaign as an undercover operative. Inside the hospital, Iceman’s father asks Gambit about the X-men. Gambit explains the X-Men’s dream and finally Mr. Drake realizes that he right now stood up for the same. Outside the hospital several of Creed’s men are planning to kill Storm, Iceman, and Gambit, but Wolverine takes care of them before they can start. After talking to Storm for awhile, Iceman decides to take a leave of absence from the team to take care of his father, while Cannonball turns down Jean Grey’s telepathic offer to drop the undercover assignment because of the obvious danger. With Bobby out of the picture Sam knows that now he alone has access to Creed’s personal surroundings and he decides to stay undercover until the end of the election. Beast asks the others to dinner with he and Trish, but most of the others have other plans and the group splits up. Gambit stalks off, jealous of the bond he senses between Rogue and Joseph. Joseph takes the opportunity to take Rogue on a romantic ride aboard a horse and carriage. Bishop decides to spend the evening alone, and Cannonball goes to a toy store, looking for presents for his numerous siblings. One of the poeple that Sam passes is the punisher, but he doesn’t notice. Dismayed by the Christmas rush at the store, Cannonball is uncertain what to do, when suddenly Gladiator, member of the Shi’ar Imperial Guard, comes out of a teleportation portal in the middle of the store. Comic Summary: The X-Men have been transported to a starship heading to the Shi’ar empire, they discover a massacre has taken place on a huge space station. Deathbird, the only survivor, asks for their help. Back on earth the other half of the team has more pressing concerns and can’t go looking for their teammates. Back in space, all X-Men have now switched their civies with various Shi’Ar uniforms. Rogue and Bishop are having a talk. Bishop feels lost, he had spent his whole life following Xavier’s dream and now that seems to be tainted by Onslaught. Rogue encourages him and replies that some thinks might work out when least expected and to prove her point she touches Bishop without any absorbtion effect. She then explains that the Shi’Ar minig suit she is wearing emits a low-grade force-field that keeps them from actually touching as suddenly the ship comes out of the passage and reenters open space. What the X-Men find is a humongous space station in which the hundreds of beings aboard have been killed. Soon they split into teams to search the station. Rogue and Beast go off together, as do Gambit and Joseph. Trish Tilby stays on the ship, while Bishop alone is the third exploratory team. Facing overwhelming odds, the team decides to let the Phalanx destroy their ship while they use an escape pod to escape to a nearby mining station. Maggott is introduced as a mutant following Joseph’s trail. Aboard the starship, Bishop reads up on Deathbird’s history and is fascinated. Deathbird, wearing a revealing dress instaed of her battle suit, catches him and destroys the history datapad, more interested in the present than dwelling on her past. Suddenly, the starship is knocked aside in the wake of a huge ship heading for the stargate to Earth. As they watch, the mammoth ship hits the stargate and seemingly destroys it. Comic Summary: After the X-Men’s capture by the Operation: Zero Tolerance forces makes international headlines, Peter Parker is assigned by the Daily Bugle to take pictures of Henry Peter Gyrich, who has acted as a mouthpiece of OZT. Peter dresses up as Spider-Man and follows Gyrich’s limo, only to see him attacked by the mutants known as Marrow and Callisto, who wish to teach Gyrich a lesson. However, Gyrich’s two bodyguards are revealed to be cybernetically-enhanced Prime Sentinels and start fighting the two mutants. Spider-Man joins the fight against the Sentinels, all the while preventing Marrow from killing Gyrich. After a policeman’s entrance into the scene complicates things, the Sentinels decide to slay everyone present, since their “cover” no longer exists. Callisto herself is gravely injured, after taking a shot by the Sentinels that was meant for Marrow, before Gyrich finally takes the Sentinels out by use of bullets. Spider-Man convinces Marrow not to kill Gyrich, drawing parallels between his own life and hers, since they have both faced rejection and hatred from others. He also prevents Gyrich from arresting Marrow, who escapes into the tunnels with the wounded Callisto. Meanwhile, at the Daily Bugle, Bastion offers a data disc to J. Jonah Jameson that supposedly reveals all the secrets of the X-Men. Jameson, however, sets it ablaze, assuring Bastion that he and the OZT are the real threat and the real story and he will see him charged with the murder of one of his reporters, whom he suspects Bastion previously killed. Comic Summary: The X-Men’s trip back to Earth, using Deathbird’s starship, goes awry and the team winds up to a seemingly alien planet, separated from each other. Gambit wakes up only to confront the bounty hunters known as Spat and Grovel. Despite being his friends and partners once, they both treat him cruelly, on account of past events, and even bind him with ropes, revealing that they were hired to capture him and deliver him to their employer. Nearby, Beast and Trish Tilby are looking for their teammates until suddenly the Beast inexplicably faints. Meanwhile, Rogue and Joseph also wake up nearby. Casting wide his electromagnetic bio-field, Joseph realizes the alien environment is an illusion, which he promptly disrupts. The X-Men then realize they are on Earth, in the interior of a cave. Shortly, Joseph discovers the perpetrator behind the illusion, the mutant known as Landscape, who is also an accomplice of Spat and Grovel. Suddenly, they all confront the robot known as Nanny, who welcomes her master, Magneto, back home! Meanwhile, in the sewers underneath New York, Marrow leaves the injured Callisto behind and declares war on Operation: Zero Tolerance, while in South Carolina, Maggott has a run-in with the locals. Joseph is placed in a separate cell, where he watches news reports about the ongoing Operation: Zero Tolerance crisis. In another cell, the rest of the captives watch as Rogue, due to the negation of her powers, finds herself being briefly taken over by personalities of people she touched in the past, namely Sabretooth and Gambit. Acting in these personalities, Rogue re-enacts scenes from a terrible incident in Gambit’s past, which he refuses to reveal. However, with their powers gone, the two lovers decide to physically express their love for each other for the very first time. Nearby, after secretly watching the X-Men’s capture by Nanny, Trish Tilby wanders around in the caves, looking for Beast, who is also nearby, seeking his missing teammates. In New York, Psylocke and Archangel return to their apartment which they discover trashed. Psylocke then mysteriously vanishes. With their mutant powers negated, Rogue and Gambit spend a night of passion, finally able to freely touch each other. An ecstatic Rogue tells Gambit she loves him. A guilt-ridden Gambit, however, retorts she knows nothing about his shameful past. Grovel makes every endeavor to persuade Gambit to dispel his secrets to Rogue, while Spat urges Rogue to sift through Remy’s memories that she once absorbed and discover the truth about Gambit herself. Ultimately, the five captives free themselves and confront Nanny, who shifts in full battle mode. Unexpected aid comes in the form of Trish Tilby, who smashes the robot, undetected by Nanny’s mutant-tracking sensors. The X-Men reunite with Trish and Beast before Gambit decides to turn himself over to Spat and Grovel, who have been hired to deliver him to their employer. This issue contains MANY errors: Error 1: Twice in the comic Remy states when he made the deal with Sinister to lead the Marauders he did so because he was cold hearted due to the early death of his wife, Belladonna. He had lead the Morlock Massacre BEFORE he joined the X-Men. The information in #350 contradicts past stories of Belladonna showing up alive and well after Remy had joined the X-Men (X-Men #8). Belladonna was thought to be killed by the Brood AFTER Remy joined the X-Men. So when Remy made the deal with Sinister, Belladonna was not dead, he just left her behind in New Orleans after his exile. Error 2: The revelation about Gambit in this issue contradicts the original Mutant Massacre story. Whereas Gambit is depicted here to show the Marauders the way to the Morlock tunnels, in the original story the Marauders pursued the movements of a Morlock girl called Tommy instead. Fleeing from them, Tommy unwittingly led them in the entrance of the tunnels. Error 3: Although Malice (controlling Polaris’ body) appears together with the rest of the Marauders in Gambit’s memories the villainess did not actually participate in the Morlock massacre and, in fact, did not possess Lorna until long after the massacre was over. Error 4: During the trial Rogue absorbs Gambit's mind through a kiss and succeeds to vividly recall his memories, but the act does not render Gambit unconscious or harmed in any way. Odd when before a small kiss or touch would absorbed only random fragments of memories and would put the victim into a coma. -
Comic Summary: Spat and Grovel bring Gambit to a fortress in the middle of antarctice. Rogue, Beast, Joseph and Trish assemble follow them and explore the huge structure. In New York Betsy is determined to investigate Maggott’s darkness and shadow-teleports him, herself and Archangel away. Strangely all emerge in the same antarctican fortress, where all X-Men are aattacked and defeated by an unseen foe. Maggott seems to know the attacker and as part of an old debt he agrees to play along. All X-Men are chained and put into a courtroom, where Gambit is put on trial by Eric the Red (actually Magneto in diguise). It is revealed that before joining the X-Men Gambit occasionally worked for Sinister, he also assembled the Marauders and helped them enter the Morlock tunnels before the Mutant Massacre. The X-Men free thermselves and try to fight Eric the Red, but he causes the building to collapse and escapes. Inside a hidden observation booth, Dr. Agee, Senator Brickman, his wife Mallory, and Special Agent Henry Peter Gyrich discuss the mutant problem and the effectiveness of Dr. Agee’s operation. Rogue begins to have second thoughts as Dr. Agee comes in. The nurse comes in and pulls a machine gun on Dr. Agee. Rogue discovers the nurse is actually Mystique and they duke it out. They have a long discussion which ends with Rogue touching Mystique. Using Mystique’s power, Rogue infiltrates Mutopia and destroys the “curing machine.” She would like to use it, but Rogue knows that she has to make sure that it would never used on a mutant against his will. In Anchorage, Jean gets a check-up by Michael Twoyoungmen, Alpha Flight’s Shaman. Her psi-powers are gone, and Scott tries to comfort her as good as he can. In Westchester, Wolverine discovers Rogue searching the world for Gambit, while Marrow steals Colossus’s sketchbook because she likes one of the pictures. Comic Summary: In Nebraska a frightened Pyro is running about, setting crops on fire, mumbling about Xavier. S.H.I.E.L.D. are called in, and Nick Fury calls the X-Men to deal with it, as they might be able to help more. The X-Men try to stop Pyro, but his powers are spiraling out of control due to the Legacy Virus, and he is running from something very, very bad. While this is happening Marrow is wondering what the point is in searching for Xavier, and clashes with Storm on the subject. But it is Gambit who brings it home for her; Xavier is just a man, a man who would risk anything to save their lives. When it looks as though stopping Pyro will be impossible something emerges from the flames trailing behind him; something metallic, and the reason he was fleeing, trying to warn Xavier. It attacks Pyro, taking him out, but not killing him. Kitty gets a glimpse of this thing. Later, S.H.I.E.L.D. take Pyro away. Kitty uses the Cerebro sent over by Moira McTaggert, and discovers two mutant energy signatures belonging to Professor Xavier. Then some outside source shorts out the machine, ruining it. The X-Men decide to split up into two groups to investigate the mutant signatures. One group will head to Russia, and the other to San Francisco. Comic Summary: Cerebro Prime is checking over current activities concerning mutants when his current base is detected. He quits the base, taking his files with him, and ordering the discorporation of his fake X-Men as he leaves. His base explodes due to the self-destruct. On Alcatraz Island the X-Men and Brotherhood battle Cerebrite Beta. Kitty tries to help Xavier to safety as the thing is clearly after him. The creature apparently kills Toad. The battle rages on, but Kitty is killed too, as Blob explains that Cerebrite Beta is an unit commanded by Cerebro, who was created by Bastion during Operation: Zero Tolerance. He isn't sure what it's up to. Suddenly Cerebrite Alpha blasts Mimic as he flies away with the professor, vaporizing him. Xavier falls to the ground, explaining that Kitty, and Toad, and Mimi, were not killed, just moved somewhere else. He feels the only to get Kitty back is to be "moved" by Cerebrite Beta too, much to Marrow's horror. As Nightcrawler, who had gone back to the jet, flies over-head, he sees the X-Men vanish. Comic Summary: On Christmas Eve, Colossus is haunted by a spirit who simply tells him to “remember.” The confused Colossus relates his troubles to Storm, Nightcrawler and Shadowcat, but all three feel that Colossus is just imagining things, as he drank much coffee before bed and is just hyper. Colossus himself doubts his own eyes at times, but soon his drawings of a faceless woman disappear, only to reappear with parts of a story of an Ice Princess with a missing face. As Colossus transcends deeper into the mystery, he discovers that the ghost “harassing” him is actually his sister, Illyana, or rather a memory of her stuck in limbo. Illyana has been given a chance to have a loved one perform a task for her and she is only allowed to tell him one word. She has chosen “remember.” Colossus is able to figure out the mystery and locates an old photograph of Illyana packed away that his sister wanted him to keep close to his heart. “Illyana” moves onto the afterlife and the next morning Colossus finds out that the person writing the stories on his pictures was actually Marrow, who wanted to thank him for an earlier present. Later, in Europe and the Commonwealth of Nations, the phrase became synonymous with the shot that killed Archduke Franz Ferdinand and plunged Europe into World War I. -
Comic Summary: The X-Men are on the trail of the Acolytes still loyal to Magneto, as they terrorize yet another genetics laboratory in two days. The team has the offending jet in sights, but unfortunately it is protected from detection and Xavier cannot figure out which Acolytes are actually in the jet with Cerebro. The team loses the trail but suddenly the Acolytes drop their cloaks when they arrive at their latest target, a chemical plant. The X-Men arrive to stop the Acolytes, but it is a trap. With the X-Men downed, the Acolytes escape. The X-Men quickly regroup and chase the Acolytes, who don’t seem to be making much effort to escape. The X-Men then wonder, what was the point of all of this? Are the Acolytes trying to lead them somewhere – or away from something? As tensions arise on the Blackbird, Magneto sends the robotic Ferris to the United Nations. There, the being speaks to the delegation about the recent failure in having a sanctuary in space for mutants. Thus, Magneto demands a haven for mutants on Earth and the United Nations shall grant it to him. This haven shall be for mutants who wish to live in peace. In his Artic Circle base, Magneto beefs up his powers with a conductor and uses it to once again tear open the electromagnetic spectrum. The attack sends ripples, which begin to spread across Earth, threatening to shut down all of civilization until Magneto’s demands are met by the United Nations. As the Acolytes streak back to the Arctic, they are protected by their special shields, but the Blackbird is crippled and crashes, leaving the X-Men trapped in the Arctic, but not without hope. Comic Summary: The Acolytes are protected by their shields from the nuclear wash, but Scanner and Neophyte worry about the X-Men down below. Unbeknownst to the Acolytes, however, Xavier used his powers to telepathically make Cargill extend the ship’s shields in secret to protect his team. He then mentally coerces the Acolytes, including the sympathetic Scanner, to attack his X-Men in a ploy to leave their ship unguarded. The plan works, but Katu stays behind, as he is unaffected by the telepathy thanks to his cybernetic system. The X-Men eventually defeat the Acolytes, and Shadowcat sneaks into the ship to defeat Katu. With the ship secure, the team heads to confront Magneto at his Polar Tower. However, Astra and Joseph have already arrived, and Astra tells Joseph that today is the day he will fulfill his destiny to destroy Magneto. Astra confronts Magneto alone, and finds the man still hooked up to his amplifier. The two argue with each other over their tense past. Magneto tells Astra that she is without honor and never thinks about her mutant brothers, while Astra implies that Magneto purposely agitates the humans and then gets upset when humans won’t let him rule them. After the exchange of words, in which Astra learns Magneto allowed Joseph to live so he could hide and finalize his current plans without distraction, Astra attacks Magneto and destroys his device. The magnetic energy goes out of control and threatens to destroy the atmosphere, but Magneto absorbs it all, as he has no other choice. He is about to kill Astra, when he is attacked by Joseph, who not only is fighting because Astra has total control over him, but because he must fight for man and mutant! Meanwhile, Alda Huxley arrives at the United Nations and tells the delegates that she has an alternative to using more nukes – but they must be willing to sacrifice something. Comic Summary: Wolverine runs through Danger Room scenarios, each time trying to kill Magneto. Ororo changes the program’s parameters which allows Magneto to capture him, but he isn’t impressed and asks her to leave him alone. Charles Xavier, meanwhile, visits Dr. Huxley at the United Nations but his brief conversation doesn’t go well. He returns to the mansion. Magneto is with his robot, Ferris, watching footage of demonstrations outside the United Nations building. People are angry that they have granted him presidency of Genosha. He destroys his television when someone compares him to Adolf Hitler. The X-Men prepare for Joseph’s funeral, and Rogue in particular is taking his death hard. Kitty fails to persuade Wolverine to join them, but he is more intent on running through the program than attending the funeral of someone he never much liked anyway. Charles provides everyone with a mental glimpse of what Joseph was feeling when he died, and it moves not only them, but also Wolverine and Sister Maria de la Joya as far away as Brazil. After the funeral, the X-Men join Charles in the Danger Room as he tries to dissuade Wolverine from his current course of actions. Comic Summary: The Trion have entrapped Ororo inside a dream to prevent her interfering in their plans. As she lies next to Marrow, working her way through her strange dream, her fellow X-Men have the job of halting the giant Juggernaut’s progress as he crashes from dimension to dimension. Ejulp has taken the X-Men to her own dimension, and both Charles Xavier and Wolverine, joined into one body, try and stop Cain. They manage to enter Cain Marko’s psyche, where they separate and persuade Cain that the dark entity that has possessed him is not to be feared. Cain stands up to the entity, and now free from its possession, causes the giant Juggernaut that has been crashing through dimensions to explode, opening a rift in the fabric of time and space. Ororo figures out what the Trion are trying to do and overcomes them, using her altered powers to heal the rift. She then rants at the Trion for doing what they have done, before Ejulp teleports the team back to their own world. However, when they arrive, things aren’t quite the way the left them. Comic Summary: The X-Men are on a Skrull moon with an injured Marrow. Gambit is intent on getting her some medical help, and makes for the nearest medical facility. Meanwhile, Kitty Pryde is missing, and both Wolverine and Nightcrawler search for her. Kurt decides to leave Wolverine to it, instead teleporting Ororo back to where Charles and Piotr are on Remy’s trail. Charles thinks that Remy must have gone to the Shi’ar city for help. They have determined that Ejulp has not only transported them to the wrong planet, she also took them back in time. They are on a Skrull moon, just before Galactus destroys the Skrull homeworld. Charles wants to warn the Skrulls of his imminent arrival but needs a radio to do so. He gets one, and manages to send out some warning messages, but the Skrulls do not trust his voice. They feel it is a ruse by some of their A.W.O.L. agents. Still, Charles continues trying and, when Kurt, Piotr and Ororo manage to appropriate a pogo-plane, they head into the atmosphere so that Charles can try and contact the Skrull homeworld. As he transmits, a passing Skrull ship attacks them and they are forced to the moon’s surface once again. Though they evade the ship, they are attacked by a horde of Skrulls in the forms of the Imperial Guard and the Starjammers. While they fend them off, Gambit uses a Skrull doctor to try and treat Marrow. The doctor is killed as soon as he sets up the machine into which Marrow has been placed, and Gambit figures he must keep them away from her. As the X-Men fight off the Skrulls, with more and more arriving for the fight, they look to the skies and see Skrull ships exploding. It’s the work of Nova, the herald of Galactus. Comic Summary: Returning from Boston, Piotr and Marrow are asked to return to the mansion immediately. Kitty, Kurt and Rogue are also given the same order and, as Professor Xavier speaks with two members of X-Force, Storm receives a similar call. Once they are all back at the mansion, they discover Wolverine lying dead in the medilab. They follow Charles to the command center, where he immediately becomes involved in a shouting match with Cyclops. Scott blames him for losing it; telling him that there are two factions in the room, one of which will blindly follow him and his dream, and the other which can think for themselves. As Kurt attempts to mediate, Charles accuses Jean Grey of controlling Scott’s mind. He attacks her mentally, and Cyclops unleashes an optic blast at his old mentor. Kitty manages to phase the Professor, but the blast hits Storm hard. Jean then attacks Charles in response and, before long, the two factions are separated as the walls come down between them. Cable smashes through the barricade and attacks Jean - killing Marrow, who comes to her defense. He then takes down Rogue also. Nate, meanwhile, blasts Colossus and then vaporizes Nightcrawler, before Piotr kills Nate with a desperate final attempt at stopping him. Kitty is horrified, as is Gambit, and they hold their respective loved ones as they breathe their final breaths. They then see images of those they think are responsible - Onslaught in Kitty’s case, and Dark Phoenix in Remy’s. As they fight back, everything suddenly reverts to how it was before all this fighting began. Charles apologizes to the X-Men, but explains that, in order to discover who had infiltrated the team, he had to put them through hell recently. Everyone present has passed his tests and appear to be who they say they are. Charles takes them to the medilab where Hank explains that the Wolverine on the bed is an impostor. He injects him with a liquid that Remy brought back with him and Wolverine turns into a Skrull. With the mystery over, Storm asks the obvious question. If this isn’t Logan, where is he? Comic Summary: Scott wants to quit the X-Men and start a family but there never seems to be a good time. Gambit tries to work out some relationship issues with Rogue. Neither gets accomplished when Xavier summons them all to the Briefing Room. They go over the contents of Destiny’s diary. During this discussion the Professor discovers a mutant Skrull by the name of Fiz. Chaos ensues, but the problem is resolved quickly as Fiz is friendly. He warns the team of the plans of the Skrulls and that something’s going on with “the Twelve”. Professor has the Twelve listed in Destiny’s diary and tells everyone who they are. The last name on that list is Magneto. In Egypt an ancient cult resurrects the living Monolith. Sinister is there as well and puts him under his control. He is vital to his mission. Comic Summary: The X-Men, including Magneto and Fiz, make their way to Egypt to rescue their friends. Right away they are hit with an earthquake that damages their jets. A large group of Skrulls and cultists come out of nowhere and engage them in battle. A lot of the Skrulls change their image to appear like X-Men allies. One by one, the Twelve are teleported away by either Skrulls or Horsemen. They all end up in Apocalypse’s chamber. Bishop is retrieved from his timeline and brought to the present. He ends up being the final member of the Twelve caught. Once Apocalypse has everyone he needs, the Skrulls and cultists become more fierce with the remaining X-Men above. Apocalypse reveals his plan to everyone and is ready to initiate it. He wants to bundle the Twelve’s energies through the Living Monolith and send them into Nate Gtrey, who shall become his new host body. Meanwhile back at the mansion, someone is stealing computer files on all the X-Men from their own mainframe. Shadowcat traces the hacker, who is nearby. The teams heads out to find this person. Comic Summary: Jean Grey arrives at Xavier’s School For Gifted Youngsters. She’s greeted by Professor Charles Xavier and his students: Beast, Gambit, Iceman and Storm. The whole time Jean knows something is not right. Later, Cerebro alerts them to a mutant presence. It’s Magneto and Polaris and they’re up to no good. Later on Asteroid M, Magneto and his Brotherhood discuss their future plans. Sunfire comes in and reports a mutant presence on Earth that they should check out. Back with the X-Men, Cerebro alerts them to another mutant presence nearby. The team heads out to a circus and finds an extremely strong metallic man. While they try to convince him to join the X-Men, Magneto and his Brotherhood show up. Before they can battle, a stranger nearby yells out to Jean. It’s Scott, but after not too long he turns into Cyclopalypse. Everyone attacks him and they start to realize that this reality isn’t right. They start remembering everything that actually happened. Cyclopalypse disappears from the battle and everything returns to normal. They find themselves back in the chamber of the Twelve. Comic Summary: Professor Xavier holds a Shi’ar holoempathic matrix crystal in his hand that contains the essence of his fallen student Scott Summers, and remembers both he and X-Men past. It is a farewell gift from Shadowcat and Colossus. Having decided to help the mutant Skrulls in their new life, Xavier boards a ship with them and departs. As Xavier leaves Kitty decides it is time to follow her dreams. Later, as the rest of the X-Men are playing baseball, Storm cannot concentrate, convinced a new evil is going to come. Meanwhile on Genosha, Magneto and Polaris stop an open human rebellion and prevents a burgeoning one by Cortez, who is trying to take over the Acolytes. Witnessing this, Polaris is unsure of her place with Magneto. Nearby, the Beast and Iceman secretly reach the Genoshan Coast so Hank can study the Legacy Virus. In America, Mystique sneaks into the NRO offices to cover up some of her aliases that have recently been compromised. Elsewhere in a hideout, the Blob gathers some villains to pull a heist. Phoenix and X-Man meet in Alaska to discuss what happened to Cyclops and what Nate should do with his future. Back at the mansion, the High Evolutionary contacts the X-Men in New York to tell them that he has created a device to reverse the mutant genome, making them human. The Evolutionary triggers this device and mutants around the world revert to humans. As a result, the authorities capture Mystique while the Blob and his partners have their plan nipped in the bud. On Genosha, Magneto realizes that his enemies will soon strike now that he has a new handicap. Comic Summary: The Beast is giving the X-Men a presentation on the current state of the Genoshan mutates. He tells the other X-Men gathered that all life would soon be affected by the High Evolutionary’s regression process. While going back through files pertaining to the Herbert Edgar Wyndham, the Evolutionary’s true identity, Beast discovers that he used to work with Mr. Sinister, whom the X-Men believe is somehow manipulating the Evolutionary. The team decides to go off into space aboard a Skrull spaceship they have in order to defeat Sinister and the Evolutionary. On his station, Sinister taunts the Evolutionary, who is sealed in a stasis tube and believes Sinister is mad. Having rocketed into orbit, the X-Men pass the satellites responsible for the regression process and all feel a wave of nausea. Once onboard the station they face a whole horde of the Evolutionary’s New Men, who are being controlled by Sinister. Wolverine sniffs Sinister out and takes Storm and Shadowcat to confront him. The X-Men are ambushed by more New Men, but Wolverine takes the fight straight to Sinister. Sinister blasts Wolverine away, but Logan still survives. Wondering how Logan survived, Shadowcat realizes that the wave of nausea they felt earlier was the return of their powers. Sinister realizes his mistake but feels that it can be dealt with. Wolverine destroys the control panel for the satellites, which causes part of the station to blow up. Sinister escapes aboard the X-Men’s ship as the team confronts the Evolutionary, who reveals that Wolverine only broke to controls to his tube; the Evolutionary himself destroyed all his research on evolution. The Evolutionary apologizes for being so ignorant and blind and offers the X-Men a ride back to Earth as mutants across the globe regain their powers. Back on Genosha, the re-powered Magneto and his Acolytes defeat the human magistrates and retake the capital. After that, Polaris and Magneto begin to explore the possibilities their powers have on one another. Elsewhere, Mystique escapes prison and swears to destroy all those that have betrayed her. Comic Summary: Six months have passed since the High Evolutionary tried to eliminate mutant kind. In the catacombs beneath a building in Venice, Italy, Phoenix shows Cable a room full of treasure that she always meant to show her deceased husband, Cyclops. She tells Cable that his war with Apocalypse is over and, before he starts a new one, he should see the world he strives to protect. The two go outside into the streets to celebrate the Carnival when the Beast, who set up an elaborate stunt to sweep Jean off her feet, comes and scoops the woman up. After Beast’s little show, the two talk and discover that both have been summoned to Venice by Gambit. A group of men called the Shockwave Riders, members of the Neo, attack the X-Men. Storm comes in and saves Jean, but the Riders use their powers to send Cable’s techno-organic virus out of control. As Jean protects him, another Rider uses his powers to steal some memories of Cyclops from Jean. Gambit arrives, as the Neo are defeated. The Neo escape, except for one, who wills himself to death. Comic Summary: Storm, Cable, Beast, and Gambit stand over the bodies of Phoenix and a Shockwave Rider in an alley in Venice. Phoenix has sent her mind into the dying Rider to retrieve stolen memories, so Cable sends the other three into the astral plane to aid Phoenix. Phoenix finds herself in an immense forest, but then immerges into a memory of the land of the Neo. The land is all torn up and destroyed, though. The Rider, whom she was chasing, attacks her and accuses her world of destroying the Neo civilization. Phoenix denies the accusation, but the two fight anyway. Phoenix defeats him and the other X-Men arrive, only to be ambushed by the Lost Souls who quickly defeat the X-Men and merge the X-Men with themselves, creating new versions of the Lost Souls. The X-Men are sent to deal with their inner demons. Cable is ambushed by more Neo and is quickly overwhelmed. He uses his Psimitar to send psychic energy to the other X-Men, which helps the X-Men escape from the Lost Souls. In his inner soul, Gambit also came to terms with the Mutant Massacre and Rogue’s decision to leave him. Phoenix returns everyone to their bodies, including the Rider. The Riders and X-Men decide to end the battle and fight another day. Later, Gambit tells the X-Men the reason for their summons. He wants to launch a rescue mission. Comic Summary: In Russia, Storm kidnaps an old ally named Simyon Borisovitch Kurasov from his home and enlists him in helping her free the other X-Men, who have been captured. Storm tells Simyon her story, how the X-Men came to Russia to help Gambit pay off an old debt to Colonel Alexei Mikhailovitch Vazhin. Their goal was to sneak into a club named “the Slash!” and free Major Debra Levin, who went missing while investigating. The X-Men snuck in, but were ambushed by Manacle, Bludgeon, Cudgel, and Revenant, who were sent by the club owner, Ransome Sole. Sole had his slave, Sketch, encase the four captured X-Men in shells but Storm escaped. Simyon agrees to help. He takes a S.H.I.E.L.D. like model decoy, programmed to mimic Storm, and pretends to hand the real Storm to Sole. The real Storm sneaks in and frees Levin and attacks Bludgeon and Cudgel. Meanwhile, Sole is trying to sell the captured X-Men to his guests: some Shockwave Riders and the slaver known as Tullamore Voge. Sketch transforms the fake Storm into a machine gun to help out the X-Men. She frees the X-Men and they take down Ransome Sole, Big Casino and the other mutant guards. Some Shockwave Riders escape with Sole and his associates as Revenant teleports away. In the end, the X-Men free Levin, free a slave, and capture Voge, but realize more is going on that meets the eye and that their trip to Moscow will be prolonged. Comic Summary: In Moscow, Defense Minister Dmitri Koniev is kidnapped by Killian and the Crimson Pirates, who force him to help them gain access to the Research Annex, where the X-Men and Colonel Alexei Vazhin hold their colleague, Tullamore Voge, in custody. At the Research Annex, Phoenix enters the mind of Voge, but is interrupted by Wolverine using Cerebro, who requests aid from her team to help free some captured X-Men from the Goth, who are also slavers like Voge. Before Phoenix can ask more, they are ambushed by Voge, who was expecting Jean to try and enter his mind and tries to make Wolverine his personal Hound. Phoenix sends Wolverine out of the astral plane, but is ambushed by an unknown man whom Phoenix recognizes. Cable follows Jean in the astral plane, but ends up being possessed by the mysterious villain, who seems to have removed the techno-organic virus from Cable’s system. Vazhin tells Beast, Phoenix, and Major Debra Levin that they have been betrayed, but is murdered by the Sea Dogs before he can say more. Comic Summary: In Madripoor, the captured X-Men join forces with the Goth and the Crimson Pirates to capture more slaves in trade for their own freedom. In truth, though, it is a ploy by Gambit until he can figure a better way to defeat the Goth. The quintet of X-Men still at-large break into the building and find themselves battling their fellow X-Men. However, they still find it too hard to fight friends and hold back. Eventually, though, the free willed X-Men are defeated but not before Gambit can convince Rogue that he has a plan. The X-Men take the captured X-Men to the Goth, but discover that Tullamore Voge was in charge the whole time. The X-Men are betrayed by the Goth. Phoenix, Psylocke and Beast go through with their part of the plan to deactivate the slaver collars and succeed. The Goth defeats the other X-Men, which leaves Rogue with no other choice but to kill him after absorbing Gambit’s powers. Comic Summary: Gambit takes Rogue and his team of X-Men down to New Orleans for some rest after their ordeals during the last few days. Cable has a hard time fitting in with the team and relaxing, even though Rogue tries to help him. Gambit and Rogue discuss how weird Cable has been acting lately and wonder what is wrong with him. Jean follows Cable to the docks, but their conversation about Cyclops is interrupted when Jean picks up a mayday call from Lee Forrester, whose ship is trapped in Hurricane Sam. Storm, Cable and Rogue fly out to the Arcadia, Lee’s ship, and try to help, but Storm is knocked out when pieces of the plane Hercules fall on her. Cable and Rogue try to help Lee and her crew, but to no avail. Lee decides to try to help the crew of the Hercules. Rogue and Cable succeed in saving the airmen. Storm wakes up and rallies the team together to make a run for the eye of the hurricane. Rogue pushes the ship from behind, Storm bends the wind and Cable cuts down the waves. When they reach the eye, Rogue is swept away in the undertow, but follows a vision of Cyclops back to the Arcadia. Cable also has a vision of Cyclops, which leads him to Rogue. Comic Summary: Down in New Orleans, the X-Men recuperate in a secret hospital after saving Lee Forrester and others from a hurricane. Jean and Beast return to the hospital after shopping for treats for the team when they see a jet in the courtyard of the hospital. They soon realize it belongs to the Black Panther and inside they meet Everett K. Ross and another woman, who are looking for Storm. Storm meets the two and tells the X-Men that the Panther has requested for her alone and she must respect his decision. Storm leaves for Wakanda with Ross as the X-Men wonder what is going on. In the solarium of the hospital Lee Forrester gives condolences to Jean after she hears that Scott is dead. Suddenly, the hospital is attacked by Mandroids, but the X-Men quickly defeat them. However, Jean is captured by a man called Starhammer after a few former Shi’ar Imperial Guardsmen distract the rest of the X-Men. Starhammer is actually a D’bari, whose home planet was destroyed by the Dark Phoenix. Starhammer has come to Earth to kill Jean, which Jean allows him to do in the Astral Plane. The X-Men defeat the aliens and save Jean, who is more determined to live up to the name of Phoenix. Beast, however, is worried when he learns that the aliens claim they are imprisoned on Earth. Jean is distracted, though, with a renewed hope that Cyclops is alive after recent events. In space, Professor Xavier meets with Empress Lilandra on board the Starjammer. Corsair tells Xavier that he blames him for Cyclops’ death, which makes Xavier more intent on saving the Earth and the X-Men to redeem himself. However, his mission is made harder when he discovers that the intergalactic races have turned Earth into a prison planet for the galaxy’s most dangerous criminals out of fear of Earth having too much influence on the galaxy. Comic Summary: In Washington D.C., Senator Kelly addresses the nation to talk about the threat of mutantkind. Worse yet, Xavier has information leading him to suspect that Mystique is planning on assassinating Kelly, though it is strange that she would let herself be so obvious. Wolverine helps Rogue, who is manifesting the powers of people she has absorbed in the past, to try and cope with the added personalities and powers. All is well until she hears Mystique laugh in her head. Rogue discovers that Mystique is on Muir Isle. Xavier tries to contact Moira but discovers that he cannot reach her. On Muir Isle, Wolfsbane discovers Mystique and goes to alert the X-Men. Cable and the X-Men continue to watch Kelly, who is speaking in Boston. Kelly suddenly tells the people that they should not persecute mutants but, before he can continue, the Brotherhood of Mutants attack. As Rogue, Wolverine and Bishop reach Muir Isle, the entire island explodes! Comic Summary: At the Xavier Institute, Charles Xavier exercises, while he takes in the events that have occurred in the last few days. While he recalls the events that led to him and Moira to fall in love, Nightcrawler and several others monitor Cecelia Reyes in the Danger Room, who is fighting her addiction to the performance-enhancing drug called rave, by going cold turkey. Wolverine and Rogue take a break from meditating to drop by Shadowcat’s room, where Rogue reveals that Kitty had been researching the seventh volume of Destiny’s diaries, before she disappeared. After learning that Shadowcat may have known about her disappearance before it occurred, the two flip through the diary and find a section depicting them in the present, as well as Gambit and Storm, confronting Mystique in the hospital. In the hospital, Mystique warns the X-Men of a dark future for mutant kind. She tried to decipher Destiny’s diaries but failed. That is why she has given her remaining diaries to Xavier. Comic Summary: After seventy-two hours in his laboratory, Beast is able to discover the cure for the Legacy Virus after deciphering the notes of the late Dr. Moira MacTaggart. Xavier, Cecelia Reyes, Gambit and Wolverine congratulate Beast, who explains to them how the cure works. However, Beast and Cecelia realize that the cure can only be released after its host uses his or her power, which will then kill him or her. Beast stores the cure in a cabinet and goes out to play basketball with Gambit and Wolverine to clear his head. While the three debate on how they should be living their lives as mutants, Xavier enters the game. Inside, Cecelia senses something wrong with Colossus, who tells Cecelia all about his dead sister, Illyana. Cecelia realizes what Colossus wants to do, but he knocks her out before she can stop him. He injects the cure into himself and, for the last time, uses his mutant power. Comic Summary: Havok awakes from a dream in which he and Annie reveal their true feelings of love for each other, only to realize he is getting married to Polaris in two days. As preparations go ahead with the wedding, and the mansion is all set up, Juggernaut asks Cyclops if he can officially join the X-Men, and Havok tells him that he can be on his and Nightcrawler’s team. Later that evening, Annie Ghazikhanian arrives at a mixed human-mutant bar where Polaris’ bachelorette party is being held, despite being invited, Annie ends up sitting with Iceman separate from the party. Annie and Iceman get into an argument about various things such as human-mutant relations and their feelings for Alex and Lorna. After Annie storms away, he follows her out and the two kiss after he reveals that he is so lonely. At the bachelorette party proper, Lorna reveals much of her new personality and after discussing said personality and what marriage means to her, she apparently leaves with the stripper. At Havok’s bachelor party, a shapeshifting mutant stripper impersonates Annie, much to the disgust of Havok, who, not knowing she isn’t really Annie, jumps to protect her. After an argument with Cyclops, who planned this, Alex is confronted again with a hint that he may love Annie. This all comes to a head at the wedding where as Lorna walks down the isle, Alex calls off the wedding, and Lorna gets mad, transforming all the metal into an armor of the type Magneto wore she unleashes her powers and tells Alex that he is going to be sorry. Comic Summary: A long-overdue game of baseball is nearing its end. Rachel pitches at Emma Frost and, despite Emma trying to cheat, she is struck out, falling flat on her behind. Rachel taunts her and makes it clear that she is has issues with her. Sage showers and checks out the computers. She takes a look at which organization is looking at what, whilst Cannonball chastises his brother and a fellow flying pupil who play up to television cameras. He warns the reporter away, flashing his new X.S.E badge. With the game over, the X-Men go about their respective tasks. Rachel fixes one of the X-planes, Gambit has a medical check and Bishop places flowers in the memorial Garden, thinking of Jean. Emma and Scott, meanwhile, continue their relationship behind closed doors. After a session in the Danger Room, Sage gives the team missions. Marvel Girl, Storm, Cannonball and Bishop are sent to the Central Saharan Republic to deal with a group of raiders called Weaponeers, as members of the X.S.E. They work well as a team and quickly dispatch most of their opponents, though their craft teleports away to safety. Rachel reports back to Sage, who then calls Brian Braddock in England, asking if they’re welcome over there. Wolverine and Nightcrawler, meanwhile, are sent to Washington, also in their role as X.S.E agents, where local police have surrounded an alpha-level mutant inside a building. Comic Summary: Black Cloak is about to murder Rachel Grey, but Kitty phases her just in time. Rachel manages to use her telekinesis to good effect, using it as extra muscle and knocking Black Cloak out before plunging his own spear into him. She heads inside to find Elaine, but discovers a Warskrull standing over Psylocke as Elaine looks on, petrified. Rachel wastes no time in defeating the Warskrull, only to find Black Cloak has recovered quickly and gathered his entire team around Rachel. He tells her that she stands alone, and the people here died because of her genome. Surprisingly, Elaine slaps Rachel and curses her. She breaks down, wishing everything could be as it was before she ever heard of Charles Xavier. She wishes Jean had never been born, and she wishes that for Rachel, too. As Black Cloak once again prepares to end Rachel’s life, Cannonball attempts to join the action. He is repelled by Sega’s shield-dome, but Psylocke takes out Sega, allowing Sam entry. He is joined by several other X-Men, who defeat the Shi’ar Death Commandos quickly. However, Black Cloak then murders Elaine, and Cyclops reacts by blasting at him, before Colonel Reyes of Sentinel Squad O*N*E puts a stop to the violence. Black Cloak surrenders and Rachel takes Scott onto the astral plane, where he grieves for Elaine and her family. Rachel watches as the Grey family’s spirits join Jean. The Upon the arrival of X-Men, Bishop, pretending that he is also interested in protecting the life of the baby, narrates how he came there after receiving the Stepford Cuckoos’ distress call and how he fought against Cable and the Marauders, before being rendered unconscious. Back at the Xavier Institute, the Cuckoos are using Cerebra to pinpoint the location of the baby. Considering that the baby inexplicably blocks out Cerebra, Emma advises them to track down the baby’s abductors instead. Meanwhile, Cable returns to the Blackbird jet he stole from the X-Men and contacts Professor Xavier, thinking that he’s the only one who can help him retrieve the baby now. 80 years in the future, in the mutant relocation camp, Layla guides Madrox’s dupe to a fellow prisoner who grew up here: a boy by the name of Lucas Bishop. Comic Summary: In the port of Oakland, the controversial artist known as Guy DeMondue picks up the cargo that will be utilized as the centerpiece of his newest art installation: three decommissioned Sentinel units. DeMondue even enlists the aid of Simon Trask, hiring him to inspect the robots. In the outskirts of San Francisco, the X-Men are beginning to settle down in their new headquarters and even offer Sadie, the city’s mayor, a brief tour of the premises. However, the team is shocked to find out about Guy’s art exhibition, the concept of which they find garish and even appalling. Subsequently, the team attends the exhibition, where they easily fit in with the rest of the attendants, most of them playfully dressed up as members of the X-Men, paying tribute to the “mutant kitsch” theme of Guy’s art installation. Things take a turn for the worse, though, when an apparently re-powered Magneto suddenly appears and activates the Sentinels. In the ensuing fight, the X-Men manage to take down the robots, while Magneto is revealed to be faking his powers thanks to the specially-designed costume he dons. Magneto then vanishes. Belatedly, the team realizes their fight with Magneto served as a distraction, while the High Evolutionary proceeded to do something unknown to the Dreaming Celestial that towers over Golden Gate Park. Later, Magneto and the High Evolutionary discuss their plans in a spacecraft floating in outer space. A few days later, Cyclops, his message telepathically transmitted by White Queen to every corner of the planet, invites every remaining mutant to come and join them in San Francisco, in their new mutant sanctuary. Meanwhile, Wolverine goes to visit Guy DeMondue, hoping to extract some answers from him, only to find the artist murdered. Cyclops talks to Hope, before ordering both of them to sick bay to be checked over. Cyclops starts making arrangements for Nightcrawler’s funeral, giving Angel and Iceman tasks. Danger monitors her wards in the brig, and all are presented and accounted for - or so she thinks - as she is unaware Donald Pierce has escaped and is reporting back to Bastion, who gives him orders to sabotage the X-Men’s transport. Cyclops sends Cannonball with a squad down to Limbo to rescue Magik, while Cypher and the X-Club explain the importance of Bastion’s towers. Magneto meets Hope in the sick bay. The Beast returns to Utopia just in time for Nightcrawler’s funeral. Iceman reads a passage, while various X-Men remember Nightcrawler, before Wolverine and X-Force leave, with Wolverine angrily telling Hope that she better be worth this. Comic Summary: On Utopia, the X-Men who can fight have been drugged up to combat their illness, and depart for San Francisco, where Lobe’s investors are battling Storm, Northstar, Dazzler, Angel and Pixie, but they are seriously outnumbered by the investors, until Cyclops and a squad of other X-Men arrive. The battle continues, until Lobe releases an “Ebola-plus” functionality of the virus, the effects of which are soon felt by the investors and Lobe himself, since using the mutant drug on themselves, they too can be harmed like the X-Men. Cyclops manages to get Lobe to release the cure, and everyone is healed. The investors depart, while Angel plans for his lawyers to come and deal with Lobe on charges of infringement. Storm then destroys the massive stock-pile of drug, while Cyclops deals with the “You X-Men”. Except of course for “Angel” who is en route to anywhere she wants in a taxi, armed with a supply of the mutant drug. Meanwhile, in China, the White Queen continues to evade Sebastian Shaw, until finally using her telepathy on him, she wipes his mind clean, and knowing he will be safe from Namor’s rage, leaves him there, deciding it was time for both of them to live their lives. Comic Summary: Cyclops tries several strategies of stopping the newly empowered Juggernaut, none of which seem to work. He consults their imprisoned magic expert Magik, who has an idea. He allows her to be freed under the watchful eyes of Colossus and Shadowcat. Magik teleports them to the Crimson Cosmos where they tell the Juggernaut’s patron, Cyttorak, that his servant now serves another god – the Serpent. Greatly displeased, Cyttorak withdraws his power from the Juggernaut. Magik offers herself as a new avatar, but Colossus intercedes, not willing to see his sister damn herself once more. He sacrifices himself, becoming the new Juggernaut. In the meantime, Mayor Sadie Sinclair reluctantly begins to consider the option that they may have to destroy Utopia to save San Francisco, something which Danger informs Cyclops about. In the infirmary, Emma, in the grasp of fear thanks to the Serpent, plans to kill the unconscious Hope.

Ahab appears and attacks the group, taken Cyclops and Sue Richards (Fantastic Four) hostage, turning them into his hounds. Ahab sends his new hounds to capture Rachel and Franklin. The X-men battle it out with Ahab and win, but causes the young present day Franklin to fall into a coma. The adult future Franklin gives his life to save the present day Richards, leaving Rachel alone in the past. Rachel flies away feeling rejected by her parents.

Comic Summary: Cannonball makes a visit to the Generation X School to visit his sister, Husk, and to tell her about their sister Joelle. Elsewhere, Joelle questions Preacher on his newest paintings, and he has no answers, as they join their new "family" in the Pro-Human Survivalist Camp. Later, Storm, Bishop, Wolverine, Cannonball, and Husk take a trip to the Guthrie's home to address the problem with Joelle's disappearance. The Guthrie's oldest in the home, Josh, is rude and cold towards the guests. Cannonball and Husk decide to infiltrate the Camp by themselves to rescue their sibling Joelle. They are discovered in the crowd during Preacher's storytelling by the Nimrod force. Cannonball decides to talk to Joelle while Husk follows secretly behind Preacher in his way into the leader's domain. While talking to Joelle and trying to convince her to leave, Cannonball is attacked by the crowd and manages to escape and fly home to warn the other X-men still at the house. In the upper domains, Husk is caught and captured, even though Preacher protests the attacks. The X-men suit up and make it back towards the camp to save the two girls. After the attack in the upper levels Preacher decides it is time to flee and tells Joelle she has to come to only to discover the girl he saw attacked was Joelle's sister. Bishop makes his way to Preacher and Joelle only for Preacher to instantly know he has seen the future as he has, before explanation they are attacked. The X-men prevail and destroy the camp and save the Guthrie siblings. Preacher goes his separate ways from Joelle, but Bishop is interested about his whereabouts.

Comic Summary: Preacher is in a cabin painting his newest image. He panics realizing it matches that of one he has painted before. The pictures, placed together, is Bishop and Shard. He sets the cabin and pictures on fire and runs. A team of soldiers break in, taking what is left of the pictures. In Nevada, Storm and Bishop land in Las Vegas looking for a hologram that calls herself Bishop's dead sister, Shard. Later Kyle, A.K.A. Wild Child, whom accompanied Shard, have drink in the casino while Bishop and Shard spend time alone. Preacher shows up and warns them of an attack just in time for the Hound to show up and do just that. The take the projector that creates the Shard hologram and the X-men follow. After the battle between X-men and Hound the projector is destroyed, but Shard becomes real because of it.

Comic Summary: Sinister has created a whole pseudo-Victorian city of Sinisters underground. However, all is not well in his society. One of the Sinisters, a rebel, despises everything Sinister stands for and has plans to brainwash the Prime Sinister (as killing him would merely lead to him being replaced). He comes close to the Prime in the form of a reporter interviewing him. In the castle, he takes the opportunity to kidnap him, only to learn that this was merely a double and Prime Sinister was aware of his actions all along. The rebel Sinister was only a part of the system testing itself and his bid for freedom was basically programmed into him. Sinister Prime has him hounded to death by the Marauder clones. He then awaits the eventual confrontation with the Phoenix Five, secure in his secret weapon, his Madelyne Pryor clones…

Comic Summary: The Phoenix Five attack Sinister’s underground city to be met by resistance of Sinister’s troops including Marauder and X-Men clones and even the landscape. Sinister’s forces manage to split up the Phoenix Five which allows Sinister to use his secret weapon: a group of Jean Grey / Madelyne Pryor clones who serve as better hosts to the Phoenix and manage to wrest the power away from the X-Men. The other members of the Extinction team in the meantime have decided to follow despite Cyclops’ orders to the contrary.

Comic Summary: Cyclops turns into Dark Phoenix and kills Charles Xavier. As he causes worldwide destruction and battles X-Men and Avengers, his mind is detached, experiencing everything simultaneously and no longer human. He grows beyond this sphere until he is close to the White Hot Room but what he believes to be Jean Grey holds him back, even as on the normal plane Hope and the Scarlet Witch take him out. With him beaten, the Phoenix power passes to Hope and Scott becomes normal again. Later, as he is about to be sent to prison, Beast has a final, angry conversation with Scott and lets slip that there are new mutants. Scott notes that he is ready to pay for what he did, but he would do it all over again.

Comic Summary: Maria Hill watches in horror as Cyclops convinces Matthew Malloy to leave with him, and Magik teleports them away. Cyclops and Matthew talk atop a flat mountain, with Cyclops trying to convince Matthew how alike the two of them are. He opens his mind to Matthew, who learns some of Cyclops's history, about how Xavier found him and helped him, about what the X-Men meant, about the humans who hate them, and about how Matthew must learn to control himself, because there have been other uncontrollable mutants whose actions have only led to hatred. Matthew cannot handle all of this information and his powers rage out of control, causing the mountain to start to collapse. Magik teleports in and rescues Cyclops. Magik wants to get the other X-Men, but Cyclops is determined he can help Matthew, and begs instructs Magik to teleport him back to Matthew. She does so, and Cyclops assures Matthew that he is here for him and will help him, but Matthew is concerned that Cyclops can't – which is when Magneto arrives! Meanwhile, at the Jean Grey School, the Beast is in tears because he has contacted various government agencies and none of them are willing to help the X-Men with the Matthew Malloy problem. He pours his heart out to Storm, unwilling to accept the fact that Cyclops might have been right this whole time.

Comic Summary: The original X-Men from the past and X-23 are relaxing at the New Xavier School when Jean Grey tells them that she needs a break and is going to set out on her own. Angel suggests that they all take a break for now, and the Beast walks away, annoyed. Jean goes after him, and he she listens as the Beast tells her that ever since they came to this time he has been hit with one humiliating pie after the other, and now he believes that this group will never get back together. Jean interrupts him and tells him that just because she doesn't want to be an X-Man doesn't mean she doesn't want to be with him. They kiss, which Cyclops observes from below. At the Jean Grey School, Iceman has a brief training session with Triage, the Stepford Cuckoos, Goldballs, Benjamin Deeds and Hijack. He leaves them, suggesting they need serious re-training, and heads into the mansion, where he finds his past self, and the past Jean Grey, waiting for him. Young Iceman informs his present day self that he is gay, and tells him it must mean he is, too. He also tells his present day self that he is not going to live a lie, but understands why his present day self did – but not sure why he continues to do so. There is an awkward silence, before present Iceman explains how he put all of his energy into being a mutant and an X-Man and never took time out for himself, always being persecuted for one aspect of his life. Kitty finds Colossus at the Jean Grey School. He is unsure if it is really Kitty, but she convinces him that it is. Their reunion is pleasant, and Colossus confesses that he understands Kitty is to be married. Kitty tells Colossus that she has come to talk on behalf of someone else. Colossus realizes Kitty is talking about his sister, who teleports to him. Their reunion does not go smoothly to begin with, but Magik explains to Colossus all of the changes she has made in her life – teaching and training. Colossus embraces his sister, who tells him to make his move on Kitty, but he declines, as he wants her to be happy. The Beast is in his laboratory when he is summoned to the cafeteria by Storm. When he arrives he finds himself confronted by numerous X-Men and students from the Jean Grey School, as well as Emma Frost, Kitty Pryde, Dazzler, Magik and the original X-Men from the past. The Beast asks if this is an intervention of sorts, and Storm explains that it is, pointing out that he has taken enormous liberties in the name of the X-Men. The Beast realizes this is a trial, and gets angry. Storm suggests to the Beast that they could turn him over to SHIELD because of what he has done to the X-Men, but the Beast ignores her, and gets angry that Cyclops's students are present. Emma tries to explain to the Beast that his actions impact on them all, and Storm tells him that she wondered if no one talked to him about power and responsibility, but after discussions with his past self, she learned that he knew about them, about the differences between right and wrong. The Beast tries to ignore Storm and tells her that most of the things he is working on, it would take him weeks or months to explain them. The Beast tries to change the subject, but Storm won't have it, and Kitty points out how he never discusses his decisions with the rest of them. The Beast scolds his past self for letting this happen to him, and reminds everyone that he brought the original X-Men here and Cyclops's mutant genocide never happened. He points out that Cyclops caused a schism, caused the X-Men to fall apart, but the X-Men let him walk free. He tells the X-Men that they can go to hell, and angrily walks away. The X-Men soon learn that something is going on in Washington, DC, so Magik teleports everyone in the Cafeteria there, where they find Cyclops, Havok and the Utopians standing on the steps of the Capitol Building, with hundreds of other mutants gathered. Cyclops announces that this is the mutant revolution – bringing all of mutantkind together, united. Magneto arrives and joins Cyclops on the steps, telling him that Charles Xavier would have loved this. Back in his lab, the Beast is visited by Eva Bell, who informs him that she has travelled to many times, and that in three of them, she was told there will be a trial of Henry McCoy and that it would be very important. The Beast doesn't want to listen to her. She tells him that if this was it, then what is he to do with what happened today. And if it wasn't? Comic Summary: Marvel Girl and the Stepford Cuckoos have trapped Karnak in a psychic illusion where the Inhumans have been slaughtered by Sabretooth and he is under attack by the X-Men. The girls discuss the current war with the Inhumans, unaware that Mindee is in contact with Fantomex, who is in the reality known as the World. He is using Mindee's link to Karnak to copy Karnak's power as Fantomex searches the World, which the Someday Corporation has hacked. He is the guardian of the World, and needs to make sure that it is safe. During the process, Mindee inadvertantly shows Karnak that the Stepford Cuckoos were born in the World, which angers her sisters. They create more X-Men to keep Karnak occupied. Fantomex locates the Someday Corporation's virus within the World, and ends his connection to Mindee. Mindee reveals to the other girls what she was doing with Fantomex, while Karnak thinks he has located the breaking point. Comic Summary: Jean Grey has a mysterious vision of Multiple Man searching for Kitty Pryde, while dozens of his dupes fight the X-Men, however the vision puzzles her, as Kitty is currently supervising a group of X-Men students on an assignment to take down Forearm, who is attacking a pharmaceutical lab. En route though, Kitty uncontrollably phases through the Blackbird jet and vanishes, leaving the X-Men students to crash into the lab, which then explodes. In Botswana, Storm and the Beast are investigating a mysterious lake that has appeared almost overnight in the middle of the Kalahari Desert, and already has plants and fish living in it, which should be impossible. When the X-Men students emerge from the crash, Oya is missing and Anole is injured, leaving Armor, Pixie, Rockslide and Glob to fight not only Forearm, but a reformed Mutant Liberation Front, including Dragoness, Wildside, Strobe and Samurai. As they fight, the X-Men students learn that the lab they destroyed was creating a vaccine to prevent the X-gene from manifesting, meaning no more mutants would be born. Anole is resting against some rubble when Madrox appears, asking him where Kitty Pryde is. Anole tells him that she disappeared, so he runs off. Nightcrawler, Polaris and X-23 arrive to assist the overwhelmed X-Men students, and they defeat the Mutant Liberation Front. At City Hall in Manhattan, Senator Ashton Allen gives a speech about the development in a vaccine to remove the X-gene from future generations. Pro-mutant and anti-mutant protesters have gathered, as have several X-Men including Jean Grey, Iceman, Psylocke, Angel, Jubilee, Bishop, Cannonball and even Northstar, who is planning to report back to the Canadian government on developments. Kitty doesn't show up to make her opposition speech, so Jean realizes she has to do it for her – but to her surprise, Madrox is at the podium. In the medlab at the Xavier Institute, the Beast examines Oya and Anole, while Pixie, Armor, Rockslide and Glob wonder whether the Mutant Liberation Front were correct in planning to destroy the lab. Anole suddenly wakes up and sees Madrox on television, and informs the Beast that Madrox spoke to him at the crash site. Back at City Hall, Jean finds she can't grab Madrox's mind, as a riot ensues between the pro and anti-supporters. Madrox dupes arrive and get involved. The X-Men are forced to fight the dupes and try to keep the peace, but during the battle, Angel receives a strange message and flies away, leaving the confused Psylocke to battle alone. Jean and Iceman get to the senator as several dupes try to reach him – and to everyone's surprise, the senator mysteriously vanishes. Kitty Pryde wakes to find herself chained to a chair and unable to use her powers. The Senator is chained to a chair nearby, and when he starts to talk to Kitty, a voice tells him not to speak with her – it's Apocalypse, and Kitty is shocked to discover that he, too, is a prisoner!

Comic Summary: On Quadra Island, X-Man has taken over the mind and body of Legion, and alongside his Horsemen of Salvation – Storm, Magneto, Blob and Omega Red – watch as an army of X-Men, X-Men students, allies – and even Apocalypse – rush towards them. Cannonball sees an opportunity to strike X-Man directly, but X-Man sees him coming and knocks him back with a powerful surge of energy. Armor instructs Pixie to teleport Cannonball to safety. Storm easily knocks back any of the X-Men that get close to her, and adding to their troubles, she creates a massive rainstorm which beats down on the heroes. Jean Grey rallies the psychics to her side, thinking they might be the only chance to defeat X-Man. Psylocke has other ideas though, and tells Jean that they need to stop Storm, otherwise the other X-Men don't have a chance. Psylocke convinces Archangel to help her. Archangel flies Psylocke towards Storm, and as she falls down onto her friend, Psylocke tells her that she beleies this is what she would want, as she shoves a psychic sword into her mind. Storm screams, and both women plummet to the flooded island below, but Archangel swoops down and rescues them. In control of herself again, Storm is furious and heads back into battle. Psylocke wants to talk to Archangel, but he flies off, not wanting to speak with her. Psylocke joins with Jean Grey, the Stepford Cuckoos, Sage and No-Girl as they form a perimeter around X-Man, and when Storm confronts him, seeking vengeance for the way he manipulated her, she weakens him, enabling the psychics to tear X-Man from Legion's mind and body – but in the process, Jean Grey becomes trapped in X-Man's mind. There, Jean discovers that X-Man sees himself above everything, and she tells him that she wants him to help her set things right. Jean admits to being absent for much of X-Man's life, but that she knows he is a good man, and he is hurting people with his actions. X-Man tells Jean that he is doing something she and the X-Men never could – saving the world – but Jean links him to the pain that he is causing people all over the world. This startles X-Man, and weakens his hold on reality. The X-Men's attack against him increases, and the Horsemen find themselves free from his hold. Magneto, Omega Red and Blob join the X-Men in the battle against X-Man. Jean ends the psychic link, and Nate reveals that he is dying. He shows Jean the Life Seed that he used to increase his power, and explains that he discovered he couldn't use the seed to save his own life, so he wanted to use it to save the world. The mutants continue their assault against X-Man's physical form, with Psylocke warning Kitty that if they destroy X-Man, they might kill Jean, too. Nate tells Jean that he simply wanted to bring peace to the world. Jean suggests to Nate that he let it go, but Nate informs her that he knows what he must do – if he can't save this world, he will make it into a world where the X-Men don't belong. An instant later the is an explosion which seems to tear the X-Men apart, and they vanish. Nate is left on Quadra Island, and collapses, before the waves wash over him, and then he is gone, too, only the Life Seed remains. Several days later, the world is rebuilding, and the X-Men are no more. Senator Allen had a change of heart and reversed his anti-mutant position, but it was too late – the world had had enough of Homo Superior, and laws were passed to make sure never again families would have to suffer the tragedy of having a mutant child, as the anti-mutant vaccine was put into immediate circulation. But Cyclops has returned, and he wonders if years from now people will realize what has been lost – as the X-Men just wanted to save the world from itself.

Comic Summary: Cyclops is investigating the sudden death of seemingly every single member of the X-Men. He visits the remains of the Xavier Institute in Central Park, and sets himself up at Harry's Hideaway where, outside, he notices a mutant being hassled by several men. He goes to intervene and discovers the mutant is Blindfold. Blindfold gives Cyclops a cryptic message before leaving. Cyclops meets with Ben Urich of the Daily Bugle, and asks for his investigative assistance with looking into the deaths of the X-Men, but Ben isn't much help. In Hell's Kitchen, Cyclops is drinking on a rooftop when Multiple Man finds him. Cyclops is surprised to see Madrox alive, and they discuss Blindfold and finding other mutants. Cyclops visits the Morlock Tunnels where he discovers Chamber is now living with Callisto and the other Morlocks, but they are not interested in helping him. At the ruins of the Xavier Institute, Cyclops watches the mansion remains be cleared, while Madrox meets him again and gives him some information about Blindfold. Unfortunately, when he arrives at Blindfold's apartment, he finds that she has committed suicide, and written “This is Forever” in her blood on the wall. Afterwards, Cyclops attends a pro-human rally where Ms Prestel talks about the enforcement of the anti-mutant vaccine. Cyclops argues with her, and a fight breaks out. Captain America is on hand and calms Cyclops down, but the reunion between the two is not a happy one, and Cyclops turns to a cameraman who records him issuing a rallying call to any remaining mutants out there to meet with him. Two nights' later, Cyclops is at the old Xavier School grounds in Salem Center, where he is confronted by members of the Reavers, Sapien League and Purifiers. The three factions fight him, but Cyclops isn't alone, as Wolverine shows up and joins him in the battle. The two X-Men eventually lay waste to their enemies and Wolverine tells Cyclops that they have to go – as they have work to do.

Comic Summary: Iceman helps with relief efforts in a flooded Delaware, only to have an ungrateful human rant and rave at him. Not interested in listening, Iceman leaves and returns to the Xavier Institute, where he finds a birthday gift from his ex, Judah Miller. Bobby then comes across one of his students, Michaela, who was leaving a gift for him. Michaela then tells Bobby that she wants to leave the X-Men. Bobby repeatedly reminds her that she is a student, and tries to give her some encouraging words, before Oya finds them and ends their conversation, as Bobby leaves for his party, and tells the students that he will see them there. However, en route to the party, Bobby finds himself confronted by bearded icy figure called Ice-Master, who announces that he has returned from the future to warn Bobby of the darkness yet to come – as he doesn't want to be the reason this galaxy ends. At that moment in Greenwich Village, other members of the X-Men are already celebrating at Bobby's birthday party, Kitty has words with Angel, before noticing, to her horror, Bobby's parents the Drakes arrive, while the drag queen Darkveil hosts the evening and introduces Bernard the Poet to the stage. Back in Central Park, Ice-Master speaks cryptically to Bobby, before launching into his story about the end of the galaxy, revealing how Bobby and his lover, Daken, led the X-Men to comandeer a Shi'ar vessel, as Daken claimed the Shi'ar were going to overwhelm the Earth and lay waste to it. Daken's plan continued, as the X-Men battled the Imperial Guard, while Daken and Iceman confronted Deathbird and Erik the Red on a smaller ship. Daken then detonated the other ship, killing the other X-Men, before he and Deathbird prepare to depart through a portal to steal the M'Kraan Crystal, which had been Daken's plan all along – except Daken betrays Deathbird and kills her. Ice-Master attempts to stop Daken, but he is seconds too late. After listening to Ice-Master's story, Bobby tells his alternate self that his story is ludicrous, and that he needs to go back to his own time. They begin to fight, each creating ice-golems to counter the others. During the battle, Ice-Master accuses Bobby of still not having full realization over his abilities. Back in Greenwich Village, Northstar and his husband arrive at the party, while Kitty tries to make the Drakes feel welcome. Christian Frost suddenly arrives, and announces that he has something for Bobby. Kitty isn't sure where he is, so Jean offers to go back to the Mansion and find him – and find him she does, proving to Ice-Master that he does have control over his powers and shows off some new skills he has learned. Ice-Master sees Jean and attacks her, blaming her for the hassles with the M'Kraan Crystal, and for exposing his secret. Jean defends herself against Ice-Master, confused as to what he is talking about, until Bobby coems between them, and tells Ice-Master that Jean has been dead forever and has no idea what he is on about. Bobby then turns to Jean and tells her that her time-displaced self did a very bad thing, and that he thought he could let it go, but he can't. Bobby informs Jean that her time-displaced self outted him. Jean reminds Bobby that when their time-displaced selves returned to their true time, they absorbed their memories, so she knows that. Bobby tells Jean that it wasn't okay – that ir needed to happen, but only when he was ready. Jean tells Bobby that she is sorry, before Bobby turns back to Ice-Master and tells him that he should be back in his own timeline trying to stop Daken, rather than coming here and blaiming him for this. He lists some things that Jean has done and is forgiven for, while wondering why he still gets blamed for things. He declares that he is done with self-hating and guilt-tripping and wants everyone to leeave him alone and let him live his life. Bobby tells Jean that he wants to celebrate his birthday, so they go back to Greenwich Village, where they find Christian waiting outside the cafe for them. Bobby talks to Christian, who gives him a check for a lot of money as a thank you for what he did for him. Once inside, Bobby begins to celebrate with his friends. As the night goes on, the heroic Pyro tells Bobby that he didn't get him a gift, and suggests they get together later, before Bobby goes and talks to his parents. Bobby motions to Ice-Master at the bar, which causes his mother to storm out, fed up with time travel. Bobby's father then gives him some surprisingly encouraging words. Bobby informs Bishop about the check Christian gave him, and reveals that he thinks he knows what to do with it. Jean asks Bobby if everything is okay between them, and Bobby tells her that they are okay. Accompanied by Ice-Master, Bobby pays a visit to the Morlock called Madin who gives her the check from Christian, telling her to use it for the Morlocks. Bobby explains that he is going to set up an LLC so he can handle the disbursements of the funds. As Iceman and Ice-Master sled away, Ice-Master apparently dies. The next morning, as Pyro is still asleep in his bed, Bobby writes an email to Judah.
