Comic Summary A little girl witnesses how her mother and her mother´s boyfriend are murdered by Hammerhead, but she escapes the killer. She later runs into Remy LeBeau, who uses his mutant powers and sleight-at-hand tricks to amuse a crowd and charm a lady. Believing that he´s a magician, she begs him to help her and bring her parents back to life. He goes with her to see the bodies – unaware that Hammerhead sees them there – and finally he takes her home with him – home being a run-down train carriage. Fun Facts This is Gambit's first appearance in the Ultimate X-men world, but he does not make contact with any X-men in this issue.

Comic Summary Gambit interrupts a poker game among gangsters and threatens them, until they give him the identity of the kidnapper – Hammerhead, an enforcer of Silvermane´s. Remy then intends to got to Silvermane´s, but is first held up by Xavier and Storm, who offer him a place at Xavier´s school. Remy cynically brushes them off, he doesn´t trust samaritans. However he takes Xavier´s card, although making no promises. At Silvermane´s office building he terrorizes the employees with his powers, until they tell him Hammerhead´s location – a run-down factory. At the factory, Hammerhead is already expecting him. He tells Remy that he only let him live before, because his Boss owes Essex a favor and besides the girl is dead already. Hammerhead´s men attack Remy, but he surprises them with his powers. Hammerhead has had enough and tries to kill him, while shouting that afterwards he´ll kill the girl. Remy surprises him as well, by charging up his head and thus killing him. He then takes the girl, brings her to the social workers and assures her in his own special way, that he still cares for her. (Brief description courtesy of uncannyxmen.net)
Fun Facts Gambit comes into contact for the first time with members of the X-men in this issue. He is asked to join the X-men and refuses.

Comic Summary The X-Men are on a field trip to Coney Island, while Scott stays behind with Jean, and Angel and Nightcrawler are having fun in the Danger Room. At the fairground, Storm is taught a lesson about what being a freak in society can mean and the triangle between Iceman, Shadowcat and Rogue comes to a head, as Iceman and Kitty kiss and Rogue belts Kitty in return. They are joined by the mysterious Gambit, who starts a fight with Iceman, keeps the team busy by sabotaging the Ferris wheel, tricks Wolverine into losing a fight and finally announces that he is there to steal Rogue. Comic Summary Rogue awakes in a cell, shackled and guarded by Gambit, who tries to flirt with her and assures her that he has rescued her. Rogue gets close enough to him to absorb his powers, gets rid of her shackles and the guards outside her cell. However, as she wants to flee outside the window, she finds that she is atop a skyscraper. Her abductors introduce themselves as Andrea and Andreas von Strucker, co-presidents of Fenris International and mutants themselves. They’ve had her abducted to make her an offer: to come work for them as an industrial spy, as Gambit does. Rogue is still too outraged, until the Struckers promise her that they would give her full control of her powers and finally the opportunity to touch other people. The X-Men, in the meantime are mad with worrying. Wolverine, with half his face blown off, leaves to follow Rogue and Gambit’s scents. Storm follows after, ordering the others back to the mansion. Back there, Xavier and Jean combine their powers in an attempt to find Rogue. Storm catches up with Wolverine. They have a talk about Wolverine and Rogue’s roles in the team and Storm reveals her feelings to him. They kiss. (Brief description courtesy of uncannyxmen.net)
Fun Facts When Rogue takes Gambit's memories three people show up in his flashbacks. One man who taught him to steal through abusive exercises. Some speculate that he is Remy's abusive father, but his father was shown in Ultimate #14 and the men do not look or speak the same. The second man shown is a scientist who threatens a woman's life if Remy does not do as he is told, he speaks like Sinister, but does no look like him. The last is a woman saying that she loves him in French. It is unsaid who she is, but she looks a lot like a younger Callisto, eye patch and all, but nothing was said when she made her appearance in the series about any connection.

Comic Summary Rogue is still doubtful about the offer the von Struckers have made her. They offer to demonstrate and make her wear a special suit designed to control her powers. After some considering, Rogue refuses, feeling that her powers are a punishment for her sins. Fenris change their tune now intending to force her to work for them. Gambit doesn’t like that and, in the ensuing battle, he and Rogue escape together, taking care of both the von Struckers and their security personnel. In the meantime, Wolverine has refused Storm’s advances and has caught up to the two of them. Still angry he intends to do Gambit harm. Back at Xavier’s School, there is some infighting between Iceman, Shadowcat and Dazzler over Rogue’s appearance. Xavier and Marvel Girl look for their missing teammate on the astral plane and Jean is told where to look by a mysterious unidentified voice. (Brief description courtesy of uncannyxmen.net)

Comic Summary In the lobby of the Empire State Building, Wolverine begins attacking Gambit in spite of Rogue’s protests, while their teammates are closing in on the building in their X-Wing. Ignoring Cyclops’ orders, Iceman makes Nightcrawler teleport the two of them into the penthouse and face the von Struckers. They are eventually joined by their teammates and the von Struckers admit that Rogue is in the lobby. Rogue, in the meantime, has had enough and starts threatening Wolverine with a gun. After what he has done to Gambit, she calls him an animal. Storm joins them just in time to witness Wolverine’s decision to leave the X-Men. She gives Rogue a piece of her mind and runs to join him. Gambit asks Rogue to accompany him. He proves that he isn’t afraid of her power, as he kisses her. Rogue tells him her real name is Marian and decides to take him up on his offer, leaving behind a heartbroken Iceman. (Brief description courtesy of uncannyxmen.net)

Comic Summary The X-Men, minus Angel as his wings haven’t fully healed yet, are busy fighting Danger Room simulations of some villains Spider-Man managed to defeat in the past. While they fight, Xavier receives an urgent phone call from Nick Fury, who mentions that someone escaped from their custody and might attack the mansion, thanks to his former connection with Rogue. Xavier informs Fury that Rogue no longer is an X-Man, which upsets Fury, as he was never told. Meanwhile in Las Vegas, Rogue and Gambit manage to steal a valuable ruby from a Fenris casino. Afterwards, they spend some time in the big city, talking about Rogue’s bad past with her parents. Suddenly, they are under attack by none other than… the Juggernaut! He wants to have Rogue back for old times sake, and also because he is in love with her. During the battle, Gambit charges up the ruby they stole, which somehow gives Cain even more power than he had before. As the battle continues, Gambit throws some charged up playcards at a construction plate. It crashes on both Gambit and Juggernaut. Cain dies, and Gambit is almost breathless. Rogue gives her beloved a final kiss goodbye, and his powers and soul float inside her body. Three days later, Rogue contacts her ex-boyfriend Iceman at the school. She takes goodbye from him, after mentioning that she is scared. Rogue, while standing at a gas station, leaves, and now permanently has Gambit’s eyes and powers. This is the last issue that Gambit appears in the Ultimate Universe. He is killed in a fight with Juggernaut.
