Kicked out of the Acolytes, Fabian Cortez goes to Genosha, where he assumes leadership of the island’s mutate population and fuels the rebellion against the Genoshan government. A Civil War erupts between mutates, humans and a small resistance group consisting of members of both races. While the UN are discussing how to get the situation under control, mutant expert Professor Charles Xavier is sent to the island on a peace keeping mission, accompanied by the mutate Jenny Ransome and Phillip Moreau, the former Genegineer’s son. The conflict enters a new level when Cortez kidnaps Luna Maximoff, the daughter of Crystal and Quicksilver, and as such Magneto‘s grandchild, to get revenge on him. While the X-Men and Quicksilver secretly enter the island, the Avengers have to violate their UN charter when they, against direct orders, depart for Genosha to rescue the child of one of their members. As self-proclaimed heir of Magneto, Exodus too arrives at the battleside and takes up Cortez’s challenge in his name. However the assembled heroes soon realize that his vast abilities and fanatic view of mutants as superior race make him a much bigger problem than Cortez ever was. ONSLAUGHT
-
Year of Release: 1996
Crossover Reach: All of the Marvelverse
-
Summary:
In 1996 Marvel’s writers brought the unthinkable to life. Professor Charles Xavier, founder and mentor to the X-Men and one of Marvel’s oldest heroes, became the newest and greatest threat to the Marvel Universe. Onslaught was a four month epic event crossing over most of Marvel’s major titles including both X-Men titles, Fantastic Four, Avengers, Incredible Hulk, Cable, Wolverine, X-Factor, X-Force and X-Man. Within the mind of the world’s foremost telepath, Magneto’s ideology of “the ends justify the means” intertwined with Xavier’s dream of peaceful coexistence and the being known as Onslaught was born. Embarking upon a campaign to bring peace to the world by any means necessary, Onslaught sought to make Earth’s mightiest heroes his allies or to become the first to fall. The X-Men marshaled the forces of the Avengers, Fantastic Four, and Incredible Hulk to stand against Onslaught’s tyranny. For the redemption of a hero though, a terrible price would be paid, and the Marvel Universe would be irrevocably altered. Charles Xavier has been many things, a teacher, mentor, father figure and friend. His desire, however, has been unwavering; to create a world in which mutants and humans can live together in peace. HUNT FOR XAVIER
-
Year of Release: 1998-1999
Crossover Reach: X-Titles
-
Summary:
Professor Xavier has been missing ever since the authorities arrested him in the wake of the Onslaught disaster. In addition, shortly after Bastion stripped the X-Men’s home of its technology, a sentient Cerebro appeared with its own team of artificial X-Men fighting both humans and the real X-Men. Having eliminated his failed X-Men Cerebro is now looking for Professor Charles Xavier. Two readings of his signature are detected around the globe, so the X-Men split into two groups to find out which is real, and which is fake. But extensions of Cerebro, named Cerebrites Beta and Alpha are sent to find Xavier too, to bring him back and help to bring about a cataclysmic plan that would prove to be a perversion of Xavier's dreams for a future where humans and mutants can live together in peace. MAGNETO WAR

Year of Release: 1999
Crossover Reach: X-Titles
-
Summary:
For months the world thought him gone. The madman known as Magneto, master of magnetism, was no longer a threat. Instead, amnesiac and mysteriously de-aged, Erik Magnus Lehnsherr now called himself Joseph, and was a reforming X-Man. However, there were those among the X-Men and the international community that had reservations; even the thought of once being Magneto nagged on Joseph’s conscience. To that end, he left with the Israeli Mossad agent Sabra on a quest to discover the truth about his origins. Months have passed since then and the climate in the world has changed. Professor Charles Xavier, now reunited with a different team of X-Men than he left behind, must pick up the torch again and lead his team to creating a peaceful co-existence between man and mutant. However, a storm is on the horizon, one that threatens to destroy the very fabric of the planet. The Acolytes are shattered, broken into two splinter factions, with still more dissent among each group’s ranks. A mysterious woman has emerged, whose role in the war between man and mutant dates back to the creation of Magneto’s first Brotherhood of Evil Mutants. A robotic ambassador has arrived at the United Nations, with a most shocking and dire request. However, at the base of this storm lies a man responsible for all these players on the field: Magneto! The true master of magnetism is back, and he is on the verge of causing a global disaster in order to obtain his goal of a land where mutants can live in peace.(Brief description courtesy of uncannyxmen.net)

DREAM'S END
-
Year of Release: 2001
Crossover Reach: X-Titles
-
Summary:
Several years ago, Senator Robert Kelly was the driving force behind the Mutant Registration Act, a law that forced mutants to officially register and declare their abilities. The mutant terrorist, Mystique, led her Brotherhood of Mutants in an assassination attempt against him but failed, due to the X-Men’s interference. Today, Mystique has returned back to the foreground as Senator Kelly announces his plans to run for President of the United States. With the issue of the mutant threat being used to lead his campaign, Kelly stands a good shot of winning a close election that will determine the fate of man and mutant. The X-Men must race against time to save Kelly from the Brotherhood, but things are amiss already as they question why Mystique would make her intentions so obvious. What the X-Men do not realize, however, is that Mystique’s plan deals with more than just assassinating Kelly. To shape the future of mutantkind, Mystique has tailored Stryfe’s deadly Legacy Virus, originally designed to kill mutants, to only affect those without the mutant gene; all those born human! Split into two forces, the X-Men must protect Senator Kelly from the reformed Brotherhood of Mutants and also find out what Mystique is doing on Muir Isle. However, before all the madness comes to an end, death will strike close to the X-Men and shake the very foundation of the dream. (Brief description courtesy of uncannyxmen.net)

HOUSE OF M
-
Year of Release: 2004
Crossover Reach: All of Marvelverse (Stories separate but tie in)
-
Summary:
After the X-Men were infiltrated by Xorn – a man claiming to be Magneto. The catastrophic battle against Magneto left the Xavier Institute in ruins. Heartbroken and demoralized, Charles Xavier left the Institute and secretly made his way to Genosha, not only to bury the body of his old friend and enemy Magneto, but to rebuild the devastated island of Genosha back into a prosperous haven for mutants. The X-Men, however, were not alone in their grief. During the years of protecting the world, the Avengers found themselves chasing one fire after another as a response team, instead of tackling foes before they became massive threats; little did the team know that the greatest threat would come from one of their own. The probability altering sorceress known as the Scarlet Witch, daughter of Magneto, lost control of her reality altering powers and went insane. Attacking the Avengers because she felt them responsible for the deaths of her children years ago, Wanda took the lives of Ant-Man, the Vision and Hawkeye. It wasn’t until Dr. Strange arrived and subdued Wanda that the threat was temporarily stopped. However, before her defeat, Wanda sent out a call to her father. Magneto arrived and took Wanda away from the Avengers. It would only be months later that the surviving Avengers would learn from Quicksilver that Magneto took Wanda back to Genosha to seek help from Charles Xavier.
On that fateful day the enemy of the Avengers and the enemy of the X-Men became one. The House of M was on the rise, and reality would never be the same again. (Brief description courtesy of uncannyxmen.net)

DECIMATION
-
Year of Release: 2006
Crossover Reach: All of Marvelverse (Stories separate but tie in)
-
Summary:
It has been confirmed by various sources that there are considerably more than 198 mutants remaining - the number has been referred to as "symbolic" rather than actual, and in The 198 Files is said to be the earliest confirmed number. Numbers for pre-Decimation mutants vary from "over a million" (House of M #8) to 14 million (New X-Men #115, where it is said that the 16 million mutants who died on Genosha was around "over half" of the estimated global mutant population of 30 million mutants), giving a population, if the commonly-used 90% depowered figure is true, of between one hundred thousand and one and a half million. Based on the mathematical comparisons of the oft-repeated 198 and several million, Marvel has recently reevaluated the 90% figure into "Over 99%". This is shown in Civil War: Battle Damage Report when Iron Man comments on the Post-CW world. The figure may be reevaluated again depending on events taking place in the upcoming Endangered Species and X-Men: Messiah Complex storylines.
Both Hank Pym and Beast note shortly after the event that it is impossible for the energy that certain mutants controlled to simply have vanished, and that it must have been "sent" somewhere. As would later be revealed in New Avengers, most of this energy became a sentient entity called "The Collective", who has since come into violent conflict with the Avengers. In addition, a portion of the energy revived the body of Gabriel Summers, who had been trapped in space for many years following the defeat of Krakoa.

After he was unable to attain a solution with the help of Reed Richards, Henry Pym, and Tony Stark, he offers to "sell his soul" to nine of the world's most dangerous villains (Pandemic, M.O.D.O.K., Spiral and Mojo, Sugar Man, Mister Sinister, the High Evolutionary, Arnim Zola, and Doctor Doom), along with Kavita Rao, in exchange for their assistance. Rebuffed by most, Hank travels to Transia in search of the High Evolutionary, whose cryptic comments aroused Beast's curiosity. Scaling Mount Wundagore, he and his group of travelers are confronted by the Knights of Wundagore. The High Evolutionary briefly entertains Hank's pleas and discusses the possibility that science cannot undo something that magic ultimately caused, but seems ultimately uninterested in helping and turns out to not even be there in person. He does, however, hint that Hank is not the first person to travel to Wundagore looking for a solution to the M-Day problem, nor the first to be dissatisfied with his answers.

Summary:
Following the Utopia storyline and leading into Necrosha. Nationa X covers the aftermath. A mutant nation has been created on UTOPIA, off the coast of California and with that comes trouble. Magneto returns, causing more issues with the team. No one knows to trust him or to destroy him before he can make his move. With all the mutants of the world flocking to the Utopia some members of the X-Men have troubles coping with day to day life. Some manage, some leave the team for good. All the titles tie in to one another, but are telling different parts of the story, so they do not have to by crossed title wise to get the storyline.

-
Summary:
Second Coming is final part of a trilogy of stories that began with Messiah Complex and continued in Messiah War. Intended as a conclusion to Cable's efforts to save Hope from Bishop, who has hunted the so called Mutant Messiah since her birth; the series also builds on the Utopia, Nation X and Necrosha storylines of 2009 in the X-Men books. Hope finally returns to the X-Men in Utopia in the beginnings of war. In the midst of the chaos there are battles to be fought elsewhere, like Limbo. The return of Hope brings heartache, death and the split of the X-Men and the mutants they protect.
