CHARACTER INFORMATION
-
The Antiquary is an exiled member of the Thieves Guild. He is not only an archivist of historical information and mystical artifacts, he also steals children he finds useful or valuable to add to his Velvet Ministry, which still exists under the representation of Minister Tome and Minister Hoard of the Thieves Guild. Antiquary is no normal member of the Guild world, he also an ancient sorcerer with connections outside the guilds in underground black markets and other criminal rings. The Antiquary always had some control over the New Orleans Guild, until Jean-Luc LeBeau became leader of the Guild. Then the Antiquary was relinquished of his power and exiled him from the city. When he had more control over the New Orleans Clan, he would order the thieves to steal the children for him, including Remy when he was an abandoned child. Even though he was shunned by the Thieves Guild of New Orleans, he is still allowed to operate around it with his representatives. The guilds have also been known to ask him for information and help from time to time. He currently resides in Russia with his Ministry where he is being carefully watched by Dr. Strange.

HISTORY BREAKDOWN
-
There is actually no known personal interaction between Gambit and Antiquary in the books. All of the seen history between the two are in memories or dreams explaining their history. The first time we see their actual history together was in a dreamscape of Jean Luc LeBeau's. The dream showed the time he was ordered to kidnap Le Diable Blanc, the name Gambit was known by at the time, from the hospital the baby was born in. The Antiquary wanted the child kidnapped and brought to him so that the child could become part of the his Velvet Ministry, a collection of mystical artifacts and children he deemed important. Feeling guilty about the kidnapping and knowing the importance of the child to the Thieves Guild, Jean Luc returned and stole the child back from the Antiquary and place the boy in hiding until it was safe to bring him into the fold of the Guild.

Gambit again got pulled into the Antiquary's buisness, but did not actually have contact with the Antiquary himself, only his representatives, Minister Horde and Minister Tome. A former Assassins Guild member turned Vampire, Fracious Chicault, was attacking people within the Antiquary's circle in search of the Antiquary's hidden collection of history and mystical artifacts. He was turning the children of the Velvet Ministry into temporary vampires to find his way into the secret den that The Antiquary hid his library. He found the den, but an agreement was made. The library was destroyed and not returned to the Antiquary and Blade gets the vampire, saving Antiquary's clan.

- On their way to seek help they are confronted again by Sybil, Olivier Stoker, and his new ally, the corrupted Sister Katrina. After another epic fight that Gambit seemed to be losing, Anielle stops the fighting, volunteering to go with Stoker. Believing he had finally won what he was after, Stoker takes Anielle and they are both destroyed. The Father explains that Anielle was not who they thought she was. She was only a Ephemera, a temporary soul, only there for one purpose. To save the souls of Remy and Katrina.
