CHARACTER INFORMATION
-
Julien was the son of Marius Boudreaux, head of the New Orleans Assassins Guild, and Belladonna's brother. As the heir of the leadership of the Assassins Guild he gained the powers of enhanced strength, speed, and reflexes as well as razor edged talons from Candra. Not wanting peace between the Guilds, and hating the idea of Belladonna being with Remy, he challenged Remy to a duel on their wedding day. There have been hints that this hatred came from either incestuous or extremely overprotective feelings towards his sister.

HISTORY BREAKDOWN
-
Julien's hatred for Remy and his relationship with his sister, Bella Donna, had always been apparent through the young couple's relationship, but it came to a head when the Guilds married Remy and Bella Donna to close the rift between the Thieves and Assassins. Julien attacked Remy at the wedding, claiming that he was not good enough for his sister, and the Guilds should not work together. The assault turned into a duel to the death between the two men. During the duel, Remy accidentally used his powers on Julien, fatally injuring him. Thought dead due to Remy cheating, the Assassin's Guild demanded his live. Bella Donna convinced them to exile Remy instead.

Shortly after Gambit joined up with the X-Men, his estranged wife, Bella Donna shows up, surprising everyone. She explains to Remy that many of the Thieves Guild's members have been murdered and children are being taken from both guilds. The upset has started a war between the Guilds, both blaming the other for the events. Gambit and the X-Men agree to help solve the problems and head to New Orleans, meeting up with Ghost Rider there. When there they find the Brood behind the kidnappings of the children. The believe the murders are also a part of the Brood attacks, but in truth they are being caused by Julien, who is now a crazed killer in search of revenge.

After returning from New Orleans, Remy's brother, Henri, comes to the X-Men mansion to inform Remy that Julien is not dead like once believed. He is still alive, due to the elixirs given by the Guild's benefactress, Candra, and is reeking havoc on the Guild's. He begs his brother to return to stop the war that was beginning again. Henri is then struck by an assassin's arrow, killing him. Remy returns back home to New Orleans to find not only is Julien still alive, so is his wife, Bella Donna who was thought to have died by the Brood's hands. On a personal quest to save his wife, he goes head to head with Julien, and Candra, to claim the elixir of life before it is given to the Thieves Guild.

Finally confronting Julien to demand the Elixir of Life, Remy finds out the true nature of the elixir normally given to the Thieves Guild. Given to Julien by Candra, the drug has turned him into a half dead person who is addicted to the elixir itself, stopping at nothing to get another taste, even if it means killing his beloved sister, Bella Donna. Deciding it was worth the risk to save his wife, Remy fights to the death with Julien, again. During the attack the vile of elixir is broken. Believing he had brought Julien down for the last time, Remy became distracted, leaving Julien a window to attack again. Just in time Marius Boudreaux, Julien and Bell Donna's father, shot to kill his own son, saving Remy so that he could help Bella Donna.

ALTERNATE UNIVERSES
-
Julien and Gambit crossed pathes in the Mutant X universe before Gambit joined The Six. Julien was Gambit's right hand man and his Brother in Law in this universe, until Bastion decided he wanted Gambit's and Bella Donna's adopted daughter, Raven. He betrayed Gambit and kidnapped Raven. During the fight for the child Bella Donna was killed, leaving Gambit no reason to stay in New Orleans. He left with The Six to track down his daughter.

-
In the Evolution TV adaptation of the X-Men, Julien shows in the episode “Cajun Spice”. He is a member of The Rippers (TV version of The Assasins Guild.). His rivals are those from The Thieves Guild. He hates Gambit in the Evolution world also, even though Bella Donna does not exist in this universe.
